Success!
It was so great welcoming our students into our newly renovated and updated building! Thank you for your patience as we develop our new traffic routines and other procedures. I will continue to communicate any changes that need to take place.
Clarification on Walker v. Car Rider: If your child rides their bike, walks from school to their house, or if you park in the neighborhood and walk up to the school to meet your child, they are considered a WALKER. Please meet them on the K/1 playground at the end of the day. If you are picking up your child in your car in the new parking lot loop, your child is considered a CAR RIDER. Thank you as we work through this process.
As your student(s) settle in to their new classes and routines, if they are struggling and need some help with anything, please feel free to reach out to our guidance counselor, Jennifer Diol at diolj@gjps.org.
If you use Google Calendar, feel free to add our public calendar to your device by using this link.
This is going to be a great year! ~Mrs. Jill Beaver (beaverj@gjps.org)

Cafeteria News
Our cafeteria works really hard to provide delicious lunches to our students everyday. To help students get through the lunch line in a timely manner, we are asking them to start memorizing their student ID number. Their ID number can be found in Infinite Campus. Please help your child remember their number, our staff will also be assisting them until they have it down! (The picture above is the actual pad they will be asked to type their number into.)
This year, students will be able to charge to their accounts until they are at a negative balance of $13.75. At that point, they will be given a cheese sandwich and other side items until their debt is paid for. When you set up or add money to your student's account through Infinite Campus, there is a setting that allows you to be notified when your student's account reaches a predetermined amount. We encourage you to use this feature. If your child is close to the negative balance of $13.75, someone from High Point will contact you as needed.
Student Cellphones and Personal Devices Reminder
We want students to be engaged in learning and not distracted by devices. Just a reminder from our Student Handbook:
"CELL PHONES & SMART WATCHES
Cell phones are permitted at school, but must remain off and in the student’s book bags throughout the school day. Smart watches are also permitted, but should only be used as a clock while at school. Students are not permitted to send or receive text messages or phone calls on cell phones or smart watches during the day. Additionally, photos may not be taken with cell phones or smart watches at school. On state testing days, smart watches are not permitted to be worn. If a parent/guardian needs to reach their student during the school day, they should call the school office. The school is not responsible for cell phones or smart watches that are lost, stolen, or damaged."
Students will be given one warning about misuse of personal devices. After the first warning, a parent or guardian will need to pick up the device in the front office. If a student needs to reach their parent, they may come to the office and ask to call. In return, if parents need to let their student know something, they need to call the office and a message will be delivered.
Thank you for your help with this and understanding.
