Notes from the NURSE
You may have recently heard news reports about increases of illness this fall, as is typical with this time of year. In SMSD, we have begun to see increases in absence due to illness; with a few physician diagnosed illnesses and many generalized symptoms.
One of the most important things to help decrease the spread of illness is for those who are not feeling well to stay home. If your child has a temperature of over 100.0 or has vomited or has had diarrhea, they must stay home. Students may return to school when they have been free from fever (without medication), vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours.
Your child may also be ill, but without these symptoms. They may have a sore throat, headache, cough, or generally not feel well. If you suspect illness, please keep your child home. If in doubt about sending your child to school, contact the school nurse or your childās doctor.
Weekly Schedule Reminders....
Please always check the school calendar for the most up to date schedule SMN Calendar

1/30/23
The Shawnee Mission North Bison Swim and Dive team continued its excellent week with a convincing win Friday night as they scored 131 points to defeat Olathe West (88) and Olathe North (73) at Summit Trail in Olathe. North won 8 of the 12 events, including all three of the relays. Individual event winners included Jonathan Guild, who won both the 200 IM and the 100 Backstroke. His backstroke was a personal record as well as the top backstroke of the season for North. Junior Lopez also won both of his events (100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke) in dominant fashion. Zak Kohoutek rounded out the wins with a big victory in the 50 Freestyle, his only individual race. North had 4 events where we placed three swimmers in the top 5. In the 100 Backstroke, Guild, Charlie Brooks, Jack Nely and Porter Lee took 4 of the top 5 spots. A few other āsuper swimmersā included Vince Gutierrez, Gage Chapman, Sebastian Menendez, Ami Vazquez, Troy Wymer, Max Dillon, David Herrera Rosario and Sahid Anzures. The divers also had another solid performance as the prep for the Shawnee Mission Dive Invitational on Saturday. The next swim action is Junior Varsity League on Tuesday and then Varsity Sunflower League next weekend.
The Bison took care of business during Senior Night on Tuesday as they defeated the Raiders of Shawnee Mission South 104 - 73.
