Davis Bilingual Magnet
November Newsletter
Dear Davis Families,
I hope this message finds you well. As we step into the month of November, a season of gratitude, I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for our incredible school community. It is a privilege to serve as the principal of Davis Bilingual Magnet and I am constantly reminded of how fortunate we are to have such dedicated students, parents, and staff.
As we approach Thanksgiving, it's a perfect time to reflect on the importance of gratitude. We encourage our students to practice gratitude and it's equally important for us as adults to lead by example. By demonstrating gratitude, we teach our children the values of appreciation, kindness, and empathy - In Lak'ech.
We are thrilled to share some exciting news that brings immense pride and excitement to our school community. Thanks to the collective efforts of our dedicated staff, motivated students, and supportive families, Davis Bilingual has successfully elevated its letter grade from a 'C' to a 'B'! This is a significant achievement that reflects our commitment to providing a high-quality education for your children. We believe that with continued hard work, collaboration, and a focus on excellence, we can continue to progress and reach even greater heights.
We want to express our gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this remarkable accomplishment, whether through academic achievements, involvement in extracurricular activities, volunteering, or any other form of support. It truly takes a village, and we are honored to have such a dedicated and engaged community.
Our journey to excellence is ongoing, and we remain committed to providing the best possible education for your children. We will continue to invest in our students' success through various academic and extracurricular programs. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas to share, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your continued support and for being an integral part of the Davis Bilingual Magnet family. Together, we can achieve great things, and we look forward to the many more successes that lie ahead.
Wishing you a wonderful November filled with warmth, gratitude, and continued progress.
Sincerely,
Marisela Campillo
Principal

Improving Reading and Math at Home
We are continuously working to ensure our students make academic growth in math and reading . You can help us by encouraging your student to read nightly and/or work on one of TUSD's educational platforms. Research shows that doing just one extra session a day can have a tremendous impact on student learning. All students at Davis have access to wonderful resources such as Learning A-Z, and ST Math to support their continued growth in Reading and Math.
To access the various platforms, students just log into their Clever accounts and select the icons. Please contact your student's teacher if they have any trouble.

Free and Reduced Lunch
Davis Bilingual Magnet receives funding based on the number of qualifying lunch applications submitted. The money received is used to fund a full-time certified position. Regardless of whether or not you choose to eat school lunch, please submit an application. All qualifying applications directly impact the funding our school receives. Once an application is submitted, you are able add money to your child's lunch account. Please fill out the Free and Reduced Lunch Application.
Tax Credit Donation
Now through April 15th, 2024, you can take advantage of the Arizona Public School Tax Credit to pay the income tax you owe directly to Davis Bilingual Magnet. In the state of Arizona, you get your tax credit contribution back subject to the limits of your tax liability.
What should I mark when I make my donation online?
We are especially grateful for donations marked “Undesignated,” as that allows us to put your donation towards a specialist position on our campus (P.E., Garden, Art, etc). Thank you for supporting us as we raise funds to keep these important positions.
What if I already made a payment for Extended Day?
Many of you made a payment for Extended Day. Kindly note that you may be able to take advantage of the federal Child and Dependent Care Credit, as Extended Day supports parents who pay for childcare so that they may work outside of the home. Please consult your tax professional for more details. This may allow you to make an additional contribution to Davis (in addition to Extended Day) and claim the Arizona tax credit, for up to $400, per the information above.
