Programme for Catalan and Polish students

Thursday 4th May

8.00 pm - Catalan students will be collected from the Modlin Airport.

Friday 5th May

8.00 am - meeting at school, quick presentation of what we’re going to see in Warsaw

9.00 am - leaving for Warsaw (Teens will be divided into groups and they will take part in location-based game, they will be given instructions what to do and where to go, each group will be accompanied by a teacher)

4.00 pm - dinner at Bazyliszek

Free time for souvenirs on the Old Town square

5.30 pm - coming back to Józefosław

Free time with the families

Saturday 6th May

Free time organised by the families – they’re already preparing some attractions;)

Sunday 7th May

1pm – 5pm - lunch at Żabieniec (Spalona) I hope the weather will be good (you never know) we want to organise barbeque with sausages and food brought by the families. After lunch games.

Monday 8th May

8.30 am - meeting at school – we want you to take part in Foreign Languages Day – event which takes place every year in our school

1pm lunch at school

1.30pm – 4pm - group activities (Odyssey of the Mind, Kahoot about Poland)

5pm leaving for the airport

The game starts in the underground station called „Nowy Świat”.

1. The Monument of Copernicus

Take a photo with a famous Pole who caused the Sun to cease and moved the Earth.

2. St. Cross Church

What’s the name of a famous Pole who is buried in St. Cross Church? Take a photo of the memorial plaque containing name and surname of the above-mentioned Pole. The memorial plaque is inside the chuch.

3. Warsaw University

Opposite the gate of Warsaw University there is the old Library of Warsaw University (called BUW), a historical building of Warsaw University Library. Find outstanding thinkers of the ancient times placed on one of the walls of the building. When you stand facing to these figures behind your back you’ll have the Faculty of Polish Philology, where students are taught the proper Polish language. Go around the building of the Faculty of Polish Philology and find an interesting item at the back of the building. Take a photo of the item.

4. The Presidential Palace

Going along Krakowskie Przedmieście Street on the right you’ll pass the monument of the bending person – that’s Polish writer Bolesław Prus. Going further find the building where in front of it there is a horse rider – that’s the Great Prince Józef Poniatowski. The Head of State lives in this building. Take your photo with the Presidential Palace at the background. Going further you’ll also see the monument of Polish writer Adam Mickiewicz. Take a photo with the monument.

5. The Column of King Sigmund

Warsaw has been the capital of Poland since 1596. Before that kings and the sejm was in Cracow. King Sigmund III Waza moved the capital of Poland and now the figure of him with a cross in his hand is on a high column. Find the place and take a photo of it.

Opposite the Column of King Sigmund there is the Royal Castle, which was a home in previous times to Polish kings. Today it’s a museum with beautiful rooms and paintings inside.

When you look carefully at the Royal Castle, please turn around and look at the beautiful old tenement houses. Find Świętojańska Street and go along it. On the right you’ll find Warsaw Archcathedral where graves of famous Polish writers and politicians are placed inside. Go further and find the Old Town. Have a look at the tenement houses there. Maybe you’ll find sundials on some of them. In the middle of the Old Town there is a monument which is a symbol of Warsaw. Take a photo of it.

8. The panorama terrace

Find Celna Street and go to the panorama terrace. You’ll see the Vistula River from the terrace as well as bridges and the National Stadium on the opposite bank of the river. Take a photo of the Stadium from the panorama terrace.

9. The Little Insurgent Monument

Go back to the Old Town Market and find Nowomiejska Street. Go along the street until you’ll see the remaining parts of the wall. When you’ll pass by Barbakan, turn left to Podwale Street and go along the street. On the left you’ll see the monument of a small child in a soldier’s helmet. This is the Monument of the Little Insurgent that was placed here to commemorate scouts, young Varsovians who fought during World War II in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. They died in dignity, sacrificing their life in a battle against the German occupant.

10. The Monument of Warsaw Uprising

Opposite the Little Insurgent Monument J.Kilińskiego Street begins. Go straight the street to the end of it and turn left to Długa Street. Go in the direction of a crossroads. On the left you’ll pass by the garrison church where all military ceremonies take place. Go inside the church and take a photo of the interior of it. Opposite the church there is a huge magnificent monument dedicated to all heroes of Warsaw Uprising, who were fighting in 1944 for freedom in occupated Warsaw. Take a photo with the monument and later on look at the old building of the National Library. This is the last place you have to take a photo of.

11. St. Anna’s Church – Go along Miodowa Street until you’ll see a church with a tower. This is a famous ST. Anna’s Church. You’ll have to the Old Town. To get there you have to go along Kapitulna Street and then go along Piekarska Street. In the Old Town in front of you you’ll see the restaurant called ‘Bazyliszek’. Wait for the other groups in front of the building – we are having dinner there at 1pm.

Katalończycy w Józefosławiu

W czwartek, 4 maja 2017 r., grupa gimnazjalistów z Zespołu Szkół Publicznych
w Józefosławiu, przywitała na lotnisku w Modlinie uczniów z Katalonii, którzy pod
koniec marca gościli u siebie polską grupę. Z lotniska pojechaliśmy prosto pod szkołę, skąd zabrali nas do domów rodzice.

Następnego dnia spotkaliśmy się o godz. 8.00 w szkole, gdzie nasze dwie koleżanki zaprezentowały Katalończykom plan zwiedzania Warszawy. Opowiedziały
o najciekawszych wydarzeniach historycznych związanych z miastem, przedstawiły najważniejsze zabytki stolicy. O 9.00 wyruszyliśmy spod szkoły, by później uczestniczyć w grze miejskiej. Podczas pobytu w stolicy widzieliśmy między innymi Pałac Prezydencki, Kolumnę Zygmunta i Zamek Królewski. O 16.00 zjedliśmy wspólnie obiad w restauracji „Bazyliszek”, a potem pomagaliśmy katalońskim uczniom kupować pamiątki. Odpoczynek upłynął nam na spacerze po Starym Mieście.

W sobotę mieliśmy czas wolny. Rano pojechaliśmy do Warszawy, by dać upust energii w parku trampolinowym Hangar 646. Potem pokazaliśmy Katalończykom warszawskie metro, Stadion Narodowy i Złote Tarasy.Późnym wieczorem (w niepełnym składzie) spotkaliśmy się na multimedialnym pokazie fontann na Starym Mieście.

W niedzielę czekała na nas atrakcja przygotowana przez naszych rodziców – wspólne ognisko. W południe spotkaliśmy się w Zimnych Dołach na terenie Chojnowskiego Parku Krajobrazowego. Wspólnie piekliśmy kiełbaski. Pogoda dopisała, a my pokazaliśmy, czym jest tradycyjna polska gościnność. Panie od angielskiego (pani Joanna Kuligowska i pani Wioleta Waśko) przygotowały dla nas zabawy i gry integracyjne.

W poniedziałek, o 8.30 spotkaliśmy się w naszej szkole, by wziąć udział
w odbywającym się corocznie Dniu Języków Obcych. Obejrzeliśmy przestawienie przygotowane przez uczniów ze szkoły podstawowej oraz wysłuchaliśmy występów uczestników konkursu piosenki angielskiej. Nasi katalońscy goście mieli okazję wziąć udział w konkursie „Name that Tune”. Do 16.00 spędziliśmy czas w gimnazjum, grając
w Odyseję Umysłu i Kahoot! – quiz o Polsce. Po obiedzie wróciliśmy do domów, by wieczorową porą wyruszyć na lotnisko.

Podczas pożegnania na Okęciu polało się wiele łez. Każdy z nas przywiązał się do kolegów z Katalonii. Im też trudno było rozstać się z nami. Program wymiany eTwinning nie tylko udoskonalił nasz język angielski i umiejętności komunikacji, ale także był okazją do nawiązania nowych, szczerych przyjaźni z uczniami z innych krajów.

Do dziś utrzymujemy kontakt. Wielu z nas znalazło wspólny język z uczniami z Austrii
i Grecji. Program eTwinning dostarczył niezapomnianych, niesamowitych
i wzruszających chwil, które z pewnością wzbogaciły nasze doświadczenia. Wspomnienia z wymiany z Katalonią będą nam towarzyszyć przez całe życie.
