Holy Cross Catholic School
From the desk of Mrs. Wagner
May 12, 2023
We had a fun week celebrating our Principal for the Day, Miss Alice Kneifel. She did a fantastic job and I might have her sub more often. She took over observations of learning, handed out Herbie High Fives to students being Holy Cross, took a Zoom call from the school office with our superintendent and the associates, and even handed out raises. Thank you, Miss Kneifel, for taking over and giving me a much-needed break for the day! You were awesome!
Today, May 12, we celebrated our Kindest Kansas Citian recipients and our essay writers at Mass celebrated by our fifth-grade class. I am still in awe of our school winning twelve awards out of more than a thousand entries from the Kansas City area. It affirms that our students are receiving the best academic and spiritual education. Thank you to Mrs. Sells, Mrs. Petri, and Mrs. Watson for all your guidance and support in helping our students.
Due to the International Food Fare postponement and the need to still raise funds for our STREAM lab to remodel this summer, we decided to do something fun. Every teacher has agreed to do this for the kids and improve their learning environment. We have the best staff! I never thought I would say this, but please consider donating so your child can pie their teacher in the face!
Lastly, I would love to introduce our new 8th-grade social studies teacher, Mr. Zachary Wright. He comes to us from Magdellan in Wichita and is moving to Kansas City to be closer to his fiance. He has been teaching for two years and has an amazing skillset. We are so blessed for him to join our Holy Cross family.
Meet our New 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher
Hello Holy Cross Family,
My name is Zachary Wright and I will be the new middle school social studies teacher this upcoming school year.
I am ecstatic and extremely grateful for the opportunity to teach at your wonderful school.
A little bit about myself:
I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. I attended Kansas State University where in 2020, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in education. This upcoming school year will be my 3rd year of teaching, my first two I spent at Magdalen Catholic school in Wichita, Kansas.
I will be moving up to the Overland Park area this summer to be closer to my fiancée who is a nurse in the Kansas City area. I am excited to get to meet and work with the wonderful people of your school/parish. Have a wonderful summer!

This is a morning when we really would like the 8th grade families to be able to enjoy and celebrate their students, If at all possible, we would appreciate the help.
