HMS Celebrates Red Ribbon Week (Oct 23 - Oct 27)
HMS will be participating in Red Ribbon Week, starting on October 23rd. You may be wondering what Red Ribbon Week is. Red Ribbon Week highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. During Red Ribbon Week, youth and adults around the nation pledge to increase their knowledge by learning more about the destructive effects of drug abuse, including prescription drug misuse, and renew their commitment to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. This year's Red Ribbon Week theme is Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug Free. To celebrate Red Ribbon Week, we will be holding a spirit week. The themes for each day are listed below.

HMS Reminders
General Reminders
1. Book bags, purses, fanny packs, etc MUST stay in lockers. Clear book bags and purses must also follow this rule.
2. As the weather cools down please remind students that big jackets and winter gear must be in their lockers during the day. Blankets and pillows are NOT to be brought to school.
3. Students may have a water bottle with them. No energy drinks, coffee drinks, etc. Drinks and food from the cafeteria for breakfast must be finished by 7:34.
4. AirPods, earbuds, headphones should not be used while in the hallways. They should only be used when teacher directed. At the end of the day, they can be used once students are on the bus, in their car, etc.
5. Make sure your child knows of their transportation arrangements each day. If a change needs to be made, please contact the school BEFORE 2:00 so we can get the message to your child.
6. Final Forms should be completed as soon as possible. They must be signed by the parent/guardian as well as the student.
Car Rider Reminders
1. Car riders should exit the building using the front doors.
2. Students should enter the vehicle once it has pulled up to the sidewalk area. If you do not see your student, please continue to move forward so we can keep the line moving.
3. Students should not be walking across the parking lot or the grassy area to get to a car that is not yet to the sidewalk. This causes a significant safety concern!
4. Drivers, please drive slowly, follow the flow of traffic and be patient!
Student safety is of utmost importance! Please help us keep our students safe by following these guidelines.
Athletic Event Updates
From our High School Athletic Director-
This year during home athletic events we will not allow students to bring footballs (balls) to throw before, during and after games. This has caused too many issues and is a safety concern. The football (ball) will be confiscated. All students should be seated in the stands during the athletic contest. Also, no backpacks will be permitted to any sporting events. Any student removed from a sporting event will not be allowed to return to any sporting events for the remainder of that sports season.
PBIS
What is PBIS?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives.
Hamilton Middle School- Student Handbook
Our Mission Statement
EVERY RANGER. This phrase is meant to include everyone—every student, every staff member, every graduate and every community member. All of us working together.
EVERY REASON. The primary focus of every school system is the academic achievement of all students. Our staff and, by extension, our community take on the challenge of doing even more for our students. We educate the whole child. Whatever the need, whatever the issue, whatever the REASON we are going to work together and do the best we can for each other.
EVERY DAY. Thank you to our HLSD community for making our students a priority every day, and for always pitching in to help one another.
