Cabbage Patch Info for Families
Fife High School's Cabbage Patch tradition has been going for over 40 years, and we are thankful that this will continue this year. Cabbage Patch entails different activities and class competitions over a two week period, highlighted by the Cabbage Patch Olympics on Friday October 1st.
Cabbage Patch Friday brings a lot of excitement to the campus each year, with students dressed in their class colors, prepped for a fun school day ending with the 90 minute competition in the stadium. We are thankful that the outdoor nature of the Olympics along with some adjustments for safety allow us to continue with this event this year.
What are the school events tied to Cabbage Patch Friday?
On Friday morning some students traditionally like to get to school early "to get ready." At 6:30AM we will provide some structured competitions in the stadium prior to school beginning to provide students a place to go. There are no activities that happen prior to this and we ask that students remain off campus until 6:30AM. The morning activities in the stadium are optional, and simply provide a safe way for early arriving students to be excited. Students can still arrive at the normal arrival times that day and get the full cabbage patch experience during the school day.
What is Fugitive? Is this a school thing?
One thing that is NOT tied to school in anyway is something students call Fugitive. In some years past some students have organized themselves to participate in this "cops and robbers" type game where students chase each other throughout Milton. This is not something the school endorses, sponsors, or encourages students to participate in. We encourage families to talk about this with their student and keep your student home. There are indeed safety concerns with students running around the community at night through peoples yards, streets, parks, etc. Each year Police are made aware of the potential for this taking place.
We are looking forward to a spirit-filled Friday celebrating and for many students learning our FHS tradition, culture, and growing relationships.
Sincerely,
Brandon Bakke

Washington State Healthy Youth Survey 2021
The Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2021 will begin soon. The survey will be given to students at FHS in Grades 10 and 12.
The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to physical activity and diet, unintentional and intentional injury, substance use, sexual behaviors, abuse, risk and protective factors, and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks.
Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students’ answers are anonymous. Fife High School will be administering the survey online this year. No privacy issues were identified in the E-survey pilot conducted in 2019. This year, schools and districts are being instructed to disable any recording, keystroke tracking, and video capture software on school-issued devices used to take the survey. Students will complete the survey on their Chromebooks that will have a bookmarked link on their browser on the day of the survey. Please read the Parent and Student Notification Letter for more information about the Healthy Youth Survey.
