Spartans had so much fun showing off the best parts of SSS to rising 8th graders!

Spring sports are starting now and it's such an exciting time. I want to personally invite you to attend Spring sports! We know that a cheering sideline and stands full of fans make an incredible difference with game outcomes. Lets began building the best student section in the county! Parents, please come out and support your athletes as often as you can.

One of the ways that we have tried to make this year special for our students is to bring back traditional aspects of high school. A Varsity Letterman's Jacket is one of those special things that make high school special. Whether you are a Varsity football player, a member of the marching band, Varsity Basketball player, or Varsity Cheer or Stunt member--- a letterman's jacket is something that you can have forever. Visit the Josten's website to design and purchase a coat that tells your high school story. You can even make payments!

Mr. and Miss SSS Pageant is March 22nd!!! Please come by and get an application from Mrs. Russell in Student Services. Applications are due to Mrs. Russel by February 21st. Please come and represent yourself, your culture, your passions, and your school! All are welcome to apply!

Mark your calendar for Prom 2024! Come wander the French Quarter on Thursday, March 28th from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the Farm at 42. Tickets will be available on OSP in February.

Spartan Theatre presented CLUE! this past weekend. Special thanks to everyone who helped to make this show a success!

Rising 9th grade students had a phenomenal day at SSS on Friday. Special thanks to Mrs. Ennis-Smith and Mr. Johnson, our 9th grade administrators for coordinating this event and to EVERYONE that helped to make it a success.

Seniors do you have college recruitment information that has been sent to you while exploring your college options? Teachers do you have alumni magazines that you have finished using? If you have college information that you plan to throw away or recycle, consider donating it to the AVID program for use in future college fairs. Donations can be dropped off at room 2203, Mrs. Brown’s room.

February is Financial Aid Awareness Month, it is important to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible as many colleges and universities have priority deadlines. Please email Ms. Garcia with any question, mariagarciaortega@johnston.k12.nc.us

The FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) is available for you and your parent/guardian to fill out. It will occasionally pause to perform maintenance and improve the user experience. Please contact Ms. Garcia with any questions. Parents and students can book a meeting with me at a time that is convenient for you.

If a student desires to have a Chromebook checked out, the parent or guardian must complete the Technology Agreement Form found on the second slide of the school's website or linked here. Students may also opt to bring in their own personal device for use in the classroom. Students are responsible for their own devices and for any devices that may be checked out to them upon parent/guardian request. Students may not have more than one device checked out to them and must resolve any fees associated with their account prior to a device being issued to them.

The NCVPS EDVANTAGE Tutoring Program will be available to individual middle school and high school students nightly from 4 PM to 7:30 PM, Monday-Thursday.

To have your students begin tutoring sessions, please direct them to:

Once on the Edvantage Tutoring website, students should simply click their school district, Johnston County Public Schools and/or school name. Students will find an expandable section that guides them along as they create an account, and then enter the tutoring platform. "How To" videos are also available right below the "Schedule A Session" button.

Please encourage students to:

• Begin creating their accounts;
• Sign up for tutoring sessions in advance (or on the same day); and
• Write down their username and password (for use each time)
