THE MEMORIAL STAFF WISHES YOU A HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Dear Memorial Families,
Happy Holidays to my favorite families. I hope that you are enjoying all the season fun and family traditions that are happening this month. I also hope you find time for some relaxation and rest. My familiy is heading to Montana to visit my parents. We are looking forward to fun in the mountains and family time. I am certain that my dad will have a Jigsaw Puzzle ready to go, as one of our family traditions during winter break is to work together on a big Jigsaw Puzzle, usually 1000 pieces or more. I hope you are able to enjoy your fun familiy traditions as well.
Lately, I have spent a great deal of time thinking and worrying about how media is changing the students at school. The research being revealed about time spent on electronic devices supports that there are many negative effects. If your child is trying to convince you for a cell phone, I hope you will take time to read through the information on the Wait till 8th website. According to the VCS Elementary Handbook, cell phones are to be kept off and in the backpack at school and on the bus. They are not needed at school.
With Great Respect,
Mrs. Debra Misecko, Principal
Reminders from the office:
- We go outside to recess when it is not raining and when the feels-like Temperature is above 0 degrees. Please make sure your child has a warm coat, hats, gloves and snowboots (if needed).
- If you need help obtaining winter wear for your child, please call Mrs. Dravet.
- Please keep early releases to a minimum. They are disruptive to the classroom's learning time. There are days when the office interupts learning 3-4 times in one classroom. This causes a lot of stops and starts for instruction and is as disruptive as a tardy.
- Please send a water bottle to school each day with your child.
