What's Coming Up?
Dear Parents and Guardians:
The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is our top priority. As we begin a new school year, RSU 22 wants to inform the school community about the safety protocols that are initiated during a potential emergency. For 10 years, RSU 22 has utilized the I LOVE YOU GUYS Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The SRP went through a revision in 2021 and RSU 22 has taken steps to upgrade our safety information. Below you will find the link to the Standard Response Protocol parent information handout.
If you have questions regarding the Standard Response Protocol and how your child’s school responds to an emergency please contact your child’s building principal.

REMINDER!
Health Reminder: When Should My Student Stay Home?
Please keep your children home if they are experiencing a fever or vomiting. They can return to school once they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications such as acetaminophen or Ibuprofen. Students with minor symptoms of illness (runny nose, congestion, headache, etc.) may attend school if they are feeling well enough to do so. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding illnesses or the appropriateness of attending school.
Thank you again for your support, I wish you and your families a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Family Letter PE
Dear Weatherbee Families,
Welcome back to school! I'd like to share some important information with you regarding our first unit of study in PE, which promises to be both engaging and educational.
In the initial unit, we will dive into the world of Bike Safety, Bike Use, and Care. Students will explore various levels of biking, including the modern techniques like "Balance Bike Techniques" versus the traditional "Training Wheels" approach. Safety is our top priority, and all students will first learn the importance of wearing helmets and how to properly select and adjust them for the perfect fit. They will also become proficient in using both foot and hand brakes.
I'm pleased to inform you that many of our classes have already had visits from our school's resource officer to emphasize bike safety. No child will be allowed to ride a bike without a thorough understanding of bike safety principles and the use of a helmet. To ensure a supportive environment, we pair students as "Buddies" during the initial stages of learning.
Our dedication to every student's progress is so important to us. Last year, more than 25 students began the school year as novice cyclists, and by year-end, over 20. It's inspiring to witness their growing enthusiasm for exercise and the outdoors.
We also encourage students to bring their own helmets and, as we progress, they will have the opportunity to bring in their own bicycles. We kindly request that bicycles are not brought on the bus but rather left under the front canopy for pickup on Fridays.
Following our biking adventure, our second unit promises equal enthusiasm. We'll be delving into "Cider Making and Apple Picking," which is sure to be a fun and exciting autumn activity.
We invite you to join us throughout the year for these incredible learning experiences. Together, we'll make this school year one of growth, exploration, and fun.
Excited,
Mr. Plaisted

For example, if your child is playing saxophone, you want to purchase "Tradition of Excellence, Alto Saxophone, book 1."
