Family/Teacher Conferences
Family/Teacher Conferences will be held on Feb. 9th and 14th from 4:00-7:00 PM. Conferences will be face to face. If your family prefers a phone or zoom conference, please contact each teacher directly to set that meeting up.
More information about conferences will be emailed to families next week.
Honor Graduates
Below is the list of graduating students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher after seven high school semesters. These students will be recognized as honor graduates in the graduation program and will be awarded an honor stole to wear at the graduation ceremony. Honor stoles are distributed with caps and gowns in May.
Students with a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher are noted with a star behind their name.
If you believe your student's name has been left off of this list in error or have any questions about the list, please contact Kristin Wilcox in the Main Office at 746-2375.

Current ninth grade students began the process of registering for their tenth grade classes in their English classes the week of January 23. Students entered their course requests through class registration in Powerschool.
Please take a moment to have your student show you what classes they registered for for the upcoming school year. Students can make changes to their course selection in PowerSchool through Thursday, 2/9.
All tenth grade students take English II A/B, a math course, a science course, Health,
and Physical Education. If a student fails a required ninth grade course, they must
retake the class in summer school or during the sophomore school year.

GAPP Exchange Is Looking For Host Families
GAPP is an exchange program between GFC/RRHS and the Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium in Remseck am Neckar, Germany. Each year 21 students and 2 teachers from Germany come and stay with families in Grand Forks and then the following summer, American students travel to Germany and stay with their same partner.
The exchange students will be in Grand Forks from Feb. 11th - Mar. 2. Please contact Mary Ann Crow at mcrow060@mygfschools.org or Erika Feole at efeole170@mygfschools.org if you are interested in hosting a student.

2023 Graduation Information & Deadlines
The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2023 is scheduled for Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. *Please note the location change!
Prior to graduation, there are a number of items that need to be completed. The following is a checklist of all obligations that must be met by each student before a diploma will be presented.
May 1st
- Senior pictures are due for the yearbook. They can be turned in any time before that date to Mr. Berlund or they can be emailed to: centralyearbook@mygfschools.org
- Caps & gowns will be distributed in the main office beginning on this date. Students who have a hold on their cap & gown must satisfy all holds before it will be released. A hold may be placed on any student who owes: detention, classroom or library materials, misc. fees, technology items, device damage fees, fines, athletic uniforms, or if there is an academic concern.
- Deadline for all bills, fees and fines to be paid (such as lunch accounts, media center, athletic equipment, lab equipment, book damages)
- All independent study, online and correspondence course work must be completed.
- Deadline for completion of the "Senior Survey" and the "Choice Ready Survey". The surveys will be sent to student email accounts in early May. Early graduates will be notified about the procedure to use in completing the surveys.
- Deadline to opt out of participating in the graduation ceremony. Students who do not want to walk in the ceremony must notify Kristin Wilcox in the main office by this date. Students who opt out may pick up their diplomas and/or caps & gowns in the main office beginning on Monday, June 5th.
May 30th
- The final day of classes for seniors is May 30th.
- All course work, tests, and detention time must be completed.
- Mandatory graduation practice is scheduled for Friday, June 2nd (time TBD) at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. All graduating seniors who wish to participate in the graduation ceremony must attend the practice session.
- If you have a school sponsored event that conflicts with graduation practice, you must inform Mr. Strandell prior to June 2nd that you will miss practice.
- The graduation ceremony begins at 4:00 p.m. at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. Students must report to the holding area no later than 3:15 p.m. All students who participate in the ceremony are expected to dress in an appropriate manner. The cap, gown, tassel, and shoes are all required. No other personal additions will be allowed other than school-issued stoles of honor without prior permission from administration.
Only students who have completed their graduation requirements will participate in the graduation ceremony. The list of students who will be participating in the ceremony will be finalized on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
Senior Yearbook Photo Information
Senior photos for the 2022-2023 GFC Yearbook can be submitted to: centralyearbook@mygfschools.org.
- Submitted digital images should be 300 DPI.
- Baby/Childhood photos can also be submitted. If you need a photo to be scanned, you can put it in Mr. Berglund’s mailbox and it will be returned after it is scanned (make sure your name is on it and it’s in an envelope).
Grand Forks Central High School Senior Portrait Yearbook Policy:
Every senior student is permitted to turn in a portrait photo for reproduction in the Grand Forks Central School yearbook.
- The deadline for senior portrait submission is May 1, 2023
- Students should submit a vertical or square photo (not horizontal). Note: Full body shots may be cropped.
- Only single-subject photos are allowed.
- Accessories (i.e. hats, scarves, jewelry) and props (i.e. sports equipment) are permitted in the submitted photos as long as they do not promote or condone illegal activity. Senior portraits of questionable content will be shown to school administration for final approval.
- Portraits of students with weapons will not be published.
Note: If you did not have a senior photo taken and do not plan to take one, I can take a good picture of you. We want to include everyone and I have done this many times in the past. Just stop by my classroom (#22) and we will set up a time.
