Royal Arts and Academics Celebration Community Engagement Night
Roosevelt Middle School invites families to join us Tuesday, May 9th from 5 - 7:00 p.m. for the 2023 Royal Arts & Academics Celebration!
This annual event provides us with the opportunity to share and experience just a small sampling of the hard work and student learning from the school year.
Work has been selected from a wide range of content areas to showcase the incredible things happening at RMS! Families can race CO2 cars down the hallway, experience live performances in the cafeteria, become absorbed in student artwork and for the first time, experience unique offerings from every content area throughout the school!
Please join the Roosevelt staff in recognizing the great student accomplishments from throughout the year. We’re ecstatic for this community night and hope to see you there!
RMS Spring Musical: Matilda!
It is with GREAT pride and excitement that Roosevelt Middle School Theater announces our spring Musical, Matilda Jr, based on the Roald Dahl classic novel and recent Netflix smash hit film. It is a gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the new friends she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson.
Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!
“We wanted to choose a show that was current and we knew the kids would be excited about. This show is so much fun and has such a great message about standing up for what is right,” says director Shanan Edelheit. We can not wait to show with you the amazing work our cast has done to bring this story to life.
Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda JR. is a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination. Performances of Matilda Jr. will take place at Roosevelt Middle School, located at 650 125th Ave NE in Blaine, May 4, 5, 6 at 7pm. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and free for children under 3.
MCA Testing - Science, Grade 8
Our 8th grade students will be taking the Science MCA on Tuesday, May 2. Please help us make sure your student charges their chromebook Monday night. We don't have extra chargers or chromebooks if your student's chromebook doesn't have enough charge for the assessment.
Other helpful hints:
- Sleep makes a big difference. Please ensure your student is getting good rest Monday night and they wake up ready for Tuesday!
- Food. This is essential. Helping your student eat a good breakfast, whether at home or school, will help them feel better for the day.

We need more volunteers for our Thursday and Saturday performances of Matilda Jr. Volunteers receive a free ticket to the show.

Before School Activities at the RMS Library for May
Students Staying for School Activities and Events Beyond the School Day
We have a spring filled with great activities and events at Roosevelt Middle School. To make these activities safe and enjoyable for all families, we want to remind you that a parent/guardian must accompany their student(s) when attending after-school and evening events.
Our primary goal at RMS is for your family to have a great experience!
ParentVue App Reminder
A remember that the ParentVue app offers parents/guardians access to student's attendance, grades, and other valuable information. The ParentVue app can be a great tool to help guide regular check-in conversations with your student about their progress in their classes. The app is available to download on your phone. You may also find the same information through the "Lock and Key" by going to our Roosevelt Middle School website. If you have trouble logging in, please contact 763-506-HELP.
Universal Schools Meals Program to Begin in the Fall of 2023
On March 17, the Minnesota Legislature approved and the Governor signed a bill providing “Universal School Meals,” which means every student may receive free breakfast and lunch beginning in the fall of 2023. The program will cover one breakfast and one lunch for every student, however ala carte and other meal choices will not be covered.
Families will need to continue purchasing meals for their students for the remainder of this school year, as the new bill will not forgive or pay for any meal debt accrued before Sept. 2023.
If your family needs immediate assistance with free or reduced-priced meals, or access to other educational benefits (such as high school athletics and activity fees; ACT, SAT and AP fees; Comcast internet and SNAP membership discounts; Xcel Energy account assistance and more), please visit ahschools.us/childnutrition to complete an application.
The district’s child nutrition program is working to provide details for all families in preparation for the 2023-24 school year. Stay tuned to your back to school communications for specific details about this benefit for your family in the summer of 2023.
