Motivational Monday
From Superintendent Dr. Michael Triplett
Support Staff Matters
Good Morning Vikings,
Teachers, what is understood needs no explanation. ”Just what do you mean by that, Dr. Triplett?” you might ask. Teachers are amazing and can never be given enough praise for their work. Although Motivational Monday messages are meant to reach and motivate all of us, I want to speak specifically to support staff this week. So, NSC Support Staff, this week is for you.
Support staff is the general term for the non-teaching personnel working within a school. In most cases, support staff play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of a school and district.
The school system is complex and requires many hardworking people with different skills to ensure student success. With students being at the core of what we do, the objective is to create a school culture and climate that helps them reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Although students and teachers do not see or hear much about support staff, their roles are valuable to any school district and cannot be ignored.
So why is it that we often have a tendency to discount what support staff have to offer?
Many, if not all, schools have support staff working behind the scenes to provide a lot of the energy for what you see happening in our schools. Yet, these individuals are often not recognized, not given the same opportunities as other school staff, and often taken for granted. We must realize that support staff are individuals who help us get through the day; they are the individuals who keep our children safe, and they are individuals who keep our schools operating both effectively and efficiently.
Support staff are the unsung heroes of any school district. They are the ones who usually go about their busy days without complaints, fanfare, and expectations. They are the ones who go about their jobs without the limelight and without drawing attention to themselves. They are the ones who ensure that the students are safe, guided in the right direction, well-fed and well-groomed and that their academic and social needs are met. They are the ones who ensure that school projects are carried out and that a school is a happy place for students and teachers. In my opinion, without support staff, there can be no district success.
Support Staff, I thank you for filling my bucket this week. What you do day in and day out is of the utmost importance, and I see you. Thank you for being consistently amazing!
Consistency is the mark of a CHAMPION. Be a champion for our scholars and each other as I will be for you.
Sincerely,
Doc Trip
