Dear Red Hill Families,

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! Although this year looks different than others, we are looking forward to continuing to support your child's personal, academic, and career development. Counseling services during virtual learning will include classroom lessons via Zoom and SeeSaw, as well as individual counseling, small group counseling, and consultation by phone and over Zoom.

We know that this pandemic has created economic hardship for many families. If you are in need of food, clothing, or virtual learning supplies assistance, please complete this Family Assistance Request. Although we cannot guarantee that all requests will be fulfilled, the Student Support Team will do our best to help!

I am your school counselor, Ms. Z! This is my second year at Red Hill. I love helping students solve problems, manage their feelings, and spread kindness. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time in nature, reading, and baking.

Hi! I am your school psychologist, Mrs. Ferrer! This is my 8th year at Red Hill and I love working with the students, staff, and families here. I also work at Walton Middle School, so I get to continue to work with students who have graduated from Red Hill. I enjoy helping students learn about themselves and to grow and develop into the people they want to be. When I am not working I like spending time outdoors with my friends and family.

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us (Mindful.org). There is evidence that mindfulness can reduce stress and improve health. Each month, we will share a mindfulness activity that your family can do together. Send a picture of your family's mindful moment to azlotnick@k12albemarle.org if you'd like it posted on Red Hill's Twitter account!

This month, take a mindful moment by making a Nature Mandala. Use natural materials to create a circular pattern, like the one shown below. For more detailed directions, click here.
