OCTOBER IS HERE! Thursday, October 6, 2022
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
September was a busy month at IVES! All students participated in the fall math and reading diagnostic assessment in iReady. In addition, K-2 participated in the FastBridge benchmark assessments. Students in grades 3-6 also completed the MAP benchmark assessments. Teachers, will use the data collected to guide our instruction, students' groupings, and interventions.
I'm excited to see the growth students are making in all areas. But even more excited about what each class has worked on the first unit of Inquiry: "Who are we." Make sure you ask your child what things they have learned and what actions they are taking to demonstrate the attributes of the learner profile "caring" at home, at school, and in the community. Also, parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for October 26th and 27th. These will be half-days for students.

Big thank you to Mrs. Marisol Bundtzen!
Thank you Mrs. Marisol Bundtzen for organizing and coordinating the arrival of the Anaya Latin Dance and the many appearances they have made at Inlet View! Teaching our students how to dance traditional Cuban Danzas has been golden!
Mil Gracias!
Rincón de español Spanish Corner
Thank you to the Inlet View PTA for the support in bringing Anaya Latin Dance to our school. Students and community members benefited from your generosity! Many thanks to Mrs. McEvoy for her support of the program while Señora was away on the 6th grade trip and for all the teachers who participated with their classes- it made Ciro so happy to share his culture with each of you!
Next quarter we are hopeful to prepare some foods from the Spanish speaking world, but we need your help!
Tuesdays 12:30-3:30 or Thursday 10:30-12:00 in November consider visiting grades 4-6.
If you ever have time to donate during the school day the Spanish program can always use support with preparation of materials, Spanish language speaker conversation practice support, and website organization. Thank you for considering helping.
¡Muchas gracias!

IB LEARNER PROFILE OF THE MONTH: COMMUNICATOR
STUDENTS WHO ARE COMMUNICATORS...
HOW CAN PARENTS HELP TO DEVELOP STUDENTS WHO ARE COMMUNICATORS AT HOME?
- Encourage your child to stay in touch with relatives and friends who live in other countries by writing letters, using the phone, or sending an email.
- When working on mathematics homework, encourage your child to explain her/his answer to you orally or by drawing a picture.
- Ask your child thought-provoking questions and encourage them to discuss them with you.
For example:
- What would you do if you were scared of someone at school?
- Is there anything you cannot buy with money?
- Should you get an allowance? Why or Why not?
Work with your child to improve his/her listening skills. Being a good listener is an important part of communicating with others.
WINTER IS RAPIDLY APPROACHING ACCOMPANIED WITH SNOW
Winter is slowly approaching and I am anticipating the morning I wake up to snow. All students are expected to go outside in the rain, sun, and of course snow. Please make sure your child has dressed appropriately for the weather. If you are having a hard time acquiring winter clothing for your child, please let his/her teacher know. We will do what we can to help your child. If the weather is such that we cannot be outside in the morning safely, we will bring children into the multipurpose room (MPR) to wait until the bell rings at 8:50 AM. Please remember that children are to arrive at school as close to 8:50 as possible. We do NOT have supervision for students before that time.
