Spanish Classes
Students from Spanish AP/IB have presented important information about the Spanish-speaking country they have been assigned to. They presented in the target language about their country's geography, climate, indigenous groups, famous people, currency, and more.
Spanish 3 students created stamps of the country that was assigned to them. They had to research that Spanish-speaking country and find something that represented that country and they created these beautiful stamps.
Ms. Clare Ruesga recognized by LACOE's Intructional Technology Outreach (ITO)
Once a special education teacher and now a teacher librarian, Mrs. Clare Ruesga cultivates a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that fosters a love for literature and a healthy respect for information literacy and digital citizenship among students. She has created a makerspace for students and staff to create with the addition of a 3D printer, circuit maker, heat press, sewing machines, a sublimation printer, Legos, and copious amounts of craft supplies for students to create what their hearts desire.
Mrs. Ruesga collaborated with her school leaders to update their academic integrity policy to include the use of AI. She works alongside teachers and students to teach students what AI is, how to leverage it in their subjects, and its potential pitfalls. Students have been able to use AI to practice their writing skills, utilize it to jumpstart design-based learning projects, practice conversation for world languages, and help jumpstart the thought process in Theory of Knowledge. For fun, students enjoyed catching errors and letting AI know that it was wrong.
Mrs. Ruesga provides an excellent example of the power of librarians and teachers committed to using technology to support students.
Therapy Dogs brought by the Wellbeing Center
Before last semester's finals, the Wellbeing Center gave students a much-needed break. Three delightful therapy dogs were invited to the campus, creating an oasis of comfort and joy. Students immersed themselves in the therapeutic embrace of these furry companions during lunch. The Well Being Center's thoughtful gesture not only brought smiles to weary faces but also highlighted the significance of holistic well-being in navigating the challenges of academic life.
Thank you to Daisy, Grayson, and Daltrey for a lovely visit!
