Our first trimester conferences will take place on Monday, December 12th and Tuesday, December 13th. Parents/guardians will have the opportunity to select an in-person conference or a virtual conference. Fall conference sign-ups will "go live" today, Tuesday, November 29th, at 3:30PM through specific teacher Sign-Up Genius links.

If you are having any difficulty selecting a conference time, please contact your child(ren)'s teacher to make other arrangements.

Conference Dates:

• Grades 1st-6th: December 12th and 13th
• Kindergarten: December 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th

This holiday season, we have the opportunity to show the spirit of warmth and love to families from our local area.

We would love for you to be part of our Holiday Gift of Giving. Our giving tree will be displayed in the main office. You may help by taking a tag and purchasing a gift card for either Walmart, Target, Kohls, and Amazon. For every gift card received, an ornament will be placed on our Giving Tree. Gift cards should be returned by Wednesday, December 14th.

We, as a staff, would like to extend our sincere gratitude for your generosity! This is a wonderful opportunity for us to set an example for children of giving joyfully to others.

Friday, December 2nd is Pajama Day! Say "Yay!" to Pajama Day by sending in a donation for the patients and families at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

The time for breakthroughs is now. CHOP is on the cusp of life-changing discoveries for children. They are transforming the well-being of children and creating healthier communities throughout Philadelphia and across the world. We are raising money because we want to help make today's innovative ideas, tomorrow's realities.

During this season of kindness and generosity, we want to say thanks for supporting the needs of children everywhere!

Report cards will be available for families to view in the Parent Portal on December 14th after 1:00PM. Please be aware that teachers will not report on all of the report card descriptors in the first trimester. The descriptors they do not report on will be gray or they will be left blank. This is not a mistake. Students have either not yet had formal instruction on all the skills they will learn this year, or information on that indicator is incorporated into another indicator.

We are looking forward to speaking with you further about your child's progress at your conference time!

Last week, in the Gayman Gazette, you received information about the Personal Safety health instruction that will be delivered in your child's classroom. Prior to instruction, we are required to receive parent/guardian consent. Yesterday, your child brought home a letter about the health instruction that will be delivered in your child's classroom. Please complete the form and return it by December 9th to your child's homeroom teacher.

Calling all scientists! Consider participating in our Science Fair on Thursday, February 9th 5:30-7:00 PM by completing a project individually, with sibling(s), or with partners. Projects must be dropped off on Wednesday, February 8th 4:00-5:00. The Science Fair is a great way for all Gayman students to come together and share our learning and love for science! Reading Olympics is a reading competition for elementary students in grades 5 and 6 at Gayman Elementary School. Students participating in Reading Olympics work as a team to read a list of 25 books and compete countywide to answer quiz-style questions about their reading. This year, competition will take place IN PERSON for the first time in three years. The official competition date will be released in January. Currently, the Bucks County Elementary Competition windows are the weeks of March 27, April 11, and April 17, 2023. Students will not be required to formally commit to a team until the date is released in January.

What will the Reading Olympics program offer students in 2023!?

• A reading challenge.
• A community of readers.
• Optional book clubs.
• A book-and-a-movie night (tentative)
• Optional T-shirt design contest.
• A chance for academic competition!

What if my student worries, they aren’t a strong reader!?

• All are welcome! The Reading Olympics list offers all kinds of books for all kinds of readers, and we will work with ANYONE!

Managing Student Attendance.

To volunteer at a class party or chaperone a field trip, your clearances must be up-to-date.

If your clearances are current, upload them into the App Garden - Volunteer Tracker. If your clearances have expired, or you need to begin the clearance process, click on the Required Documents for the directions.

Any Central Bucks family who may need a little extra food assistance is welcome to join us at Barclay Elementary School. Our markets will operate on the 2nd and 4th THURSDAY of each month at 4:30pm.

No advanced sign-up is necessary. We kindly ask that you do not line up before 4:30 so as not to interfere with our student dismissal, and that you do not block our neighbors’ driveways.
