Happy Labor Day this weekend. Our first holiday of the 22/23 school year. What a great week of learning. We had a visit from Supt. Johnson, some crazy heat that doesn't appear to be letting up, Nemo visited Mrs. Maeda's classroom, and lots more great teaching and learning. Coming up this week is the much anticipated Principal/Counselor coffee on Thursday at 8:30 am at the K-8 campus. We will have coffee, pastries, and great conversation. You won't want to miss it!
This week's background features a special visit from Nemo in Mrs. Maeda's class. Who knew Nemo could visit virtually too!

Principal's Message...
Week 3 in the books and just like that we are approaching the final week of the first attendance period. For our TK-8 students that means the final opportunity to get in any missing or late assignments. For our High Schoolers it marks the one 1/3 mark of the quarter. Things move fast and stay on top of assignments and creating a plan and then working that plan is key!
Please be sure to mark your calendars for our Principal/Counselor Coffee this Thursday, September 8th. Mrs. Wijnhamer and I are looking forward to spending some time with our community as we discuss topics related to the beginning of the school year, answer those burning questions, and chart the path for the remaining Coffees. Come join us at the K-8 campus at 8:30 am.
This week, we got a visit from our Superintendent Dr. Mark Johnson. He toured both campuses, talked to our students teachers and support staff, and got to see the awesome instruction and witness the hard work of our students first hand. Also, be sure to check out our Meet a Maverick section below. We are featuring the one and only Mrs. Desrosiers.

Elementary Information
End of First Attendance Cycle: Next Friday, September 9th marks the end of the Attendance Cycle and the last chance to turn in your work. Please be sure that you have got all your work in so that you can receive full attendance and credit. We are unable to take work after this deadline for previous weeks.
Weekly Schedule: Thursday marks the first day to attend the library for Mrs. McCourtney's class. Each Monday, Mrs. Maeda's class will be going to the library at 9:45 and Mrs. McCourtney's class will be attending on Thursdays at 8:10 am. We are so lucky to be able to utilize the library and work with Mrs. Vulkov our librarian. If you are looking for the detailed Weekly schedules check out our website or via these links. TK-2 3-5
Picture Day Coming Soon: Picture day is September 12th from 8 -12 noon on the K-8 campus. Our new company is awesome! Great pictures at more affordable prices.
Middle School Information
End of First Attendance Cycle: This coming Friday, September 9th marks the end of the first Attendance Cycle. All student work is required to be completed prior to Friday 9/9 at 5 pm. Once that window passes, students will be unable to accept late work from the first 4 weeks of school. This includes PE logs too.
Weekly Schedule: Be sure not to miss a class by checking the weekly schedules available on our website or via this link. 6-8. REMINDER: Students should check their emails daily as well as keep their video on during the class session. It makes for a richer classroom experience for the students and teachers.
Save the Date for Picture Day: Picture day will be September 12th from 8 -12 noon on the K-8 campus. Student will receive their IDs that same day.
Parent Schoology Accounts: A great way to keep track of your students assignments is by creating a Parent Schoology account. If you have not done so, check out this How to Video.
High School Information
Advisory This Week: With a holiday this Monday and no school, we are not able to hold Advisory in the same way. With that being said, we are doing asynchronous Advisory. Please click on the links for the Slides and Screencastify video of Advisory.
Weekly Class Schedules: Be sure to check the website to confirm your weekly schedules and course instructional days. REMINDER: Students should check their emails daily as well as keep their video on during the class session. It makes for a richer classroom experience for the students and teachers.

Free Lunch Each Day: Students can get a lunch free from the cooler in Room 28 anytime M-Th. It's a great way to receive a healthy lunch each day while at school.

TUSD Resource Sora Summer Read
Sora Sweet Reads in an annual summer reading program designed for schools to encourage students to keep reading all year long. "Check out" the free collection of simultaneous use juvenile and young adult ebooks (and select audiobooks).
Login to Sora to access these and many any other great ebooks and audiobooks all summer long through Clever, TUSD Student Portal or soraapp.com using your TUSD Google login and password.
