Valerius Chorus for 4th & 5th Grade Students - Sign Up Today!

Valerius Elementary will soon begin its chorus season! The purpose of the chorus is to provide upper elementary students an opportunity to perform choral music outside the general music classroom setting. The Valerius Chorus is a free, extra-curricular activity for any 4th or 5th grade student who chooses to join.


This year, the Chorus will be featured at the 4th and 5th grade music program on Thursday, March 31st at the Urbandale High School Performing Arts Center (PAC).


Rehearsals will be held before school in the music room beginning on Monday, January 10th at 9:00am and will continue to take place before school on ‘A’ days until the end of May. A schedule is provided on this letter for your reference. You will want to enter these dates onto your family calendar and post the schedule on your refrigerator! Please encourage your child to join the chorus this season. We will have fun!


Because the Valerius Chorus must prepare its music in such a short time, regular attendance is expected. If your student is ill or will be absent from rehearsal, please notify me in advance by leaving a message at 457-5914 or sending me an email at irvinj@urbandaleschools.com.


Please return the attached permission slip by our first rehearsal on Monday, January 10th. As always, please don’t hesitate to call or email me if you have questions.

PTO Cookie Dough Fundraiser!

Our Valerius PTO is doing a Cookie Dough Fundraiser that will begin today! Funds raised will help purchase classroom materials and support the work of the Valerius PTO. Coming home in your student’s bag today is a flyer with all of the information about the seven types of cookie dough available for purchase, plus an order form on the back side.

Valerius Pride & Spirit Night at UHS Basketball Games on January 14th!

Each student will receive a free ticket to attend the UHS Basketball games on Friday, January 14th vs WDM Valley at UHS! Tickets will be sent home Wednesday. Please remember to check your student's back pack for the ticket.


Mrs. Cole will be at her daughter's first show choir competition, so she is unable to attend. She'll be rooting on the J-Hawks from Waukee!

Visitor Reminders

Just a few reminders as we welcome visitors back into the building. All visitors must wear a face mask regardless of vaccination status or exemptions. Also, all visitors must check into the main office to sign in and to be escorted to the classroom. Please call the main office if you have any questions.
