Good Luck at State One Act Crew
One Act Director, Mr. Rick Braun, works with crew members to prepare for a special presentation of the State Bound One Act Play, "The Scheme of the Driftless Shifter". The dress rehearsal was held in the Performing Arts Center for students and staff and it was well received!
We wish the best to the cast and crew who leave on Friday, November 17th to attend the State Theater Festival at the University of WI-Green Bay. They will perform at 9:40 AM on Saturday, November 18th at the Weidner Center, UW-GB campus.

National French Week Celebrations at the High School
A Journey into Language and Culture
November 6-10 marked a vibrant celebration at Waunakee High School as we immersed ourselves in the rich tapestry of French language and culture during National French Week. The week was filled with engaging activities, connecting students to the French language and the diverse cultures associated with it.
A highlight of the week was the scavenger hunt that had students on a mission to uncover the hidden linguistic talents within our very own school staff. Students scoured the halls, classrooms, and offices to find the 18 staff members at WHS who speak French. It was not only a fun and interactive way to learn about the multilingual talents within our school community but also a testament to the global reach of the French language.
In addition to the scavenger hunt, students learned about the practical benefits of learning French for their future endeavors through posters and announcements that centered around the advantages of including French in one's academic repertoire for college, career, and life readiness.
Students also learned about the rich tapestry of cultures associated with the many countries in the world where French is spoken as an official, majority, or significant language. WHS’ halls were decorated with posters showcasing the diversity of traditions, cuisines, and customs that make each French-speaking region unique.
To add a competitive edge to our cultural exploration, students engaged in a Kahoot tournament with questions about the 74 nations that share a connection through the French language.
The festivities were not just about games and exploration; they also aimed to shed light on the practical advantages of learning French for our students' future paths. Here are a few examples of how some individuals around the world are using their French in their lives after high school:
National French Week is not just about celebrating the joy of language and culture but also recognizing the tangible benefits that learning French brings to our students. It's not just about conjugating verbs or mastering pronunciation; it's about equipping students with the tools to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and globalized world.
Merci beaucoup for making National French Week a memorable celebration of language, culture, and the boundless possibilities that lie ahead.
Reminder of Rules and Regulations
Reinforcing the Dress Code
With the ever-changing styles and trends for clothing, we’re noticing an uptick in the number of individuals not complying with the dress code here at WCHS. The complete lists of rules and regulations can be found on page 21 of our WCHS Student Handbook. It’s important to remember that the goals for our dress code are to ensure that clothing does not “interfere with the health or safety of any student, contribute to a hostile or intimidating atmosphere for any student, and does not reinforce or contribute to a culture of harassment or objectification.”
There are two elements of the code that students have not been complying with on a regular basis. First, students have been wearing both hoods and a hat; this impedes visibility and identification which causes a safety concern. In addition, many students are choosing to wear shirts/tops that cannot reach the top of their pants/skirts (such as crop tops or cut off shirts). We would really appreciate it if you could share a reminder with your students regarding the dress code and the importance of following school rules.
