Principal's Summer Newsletter
Be Your Best When It Matters Most
Dear Brookside Parents,
As the new principal of Brookside Elementary, I welcome you and your family back to school! I hope you are having an amazing summer full of fun family activities and adventures. I am excited to be a part of this great school and I appreciate the welcome I have received from so many of you.
In a few short weeks, our halls and classrooms will be bustling with excited students anxious to meet their new teacher and reunite with their friends. I look forward to meeting each of you and your children as they return to school.
This year our school’s theme will be “Be Your Best When It Matters Most.” As I’ve thought about each of your children and our common desire to ensure that they have the best educational experience possible, I believe that each and every day “Matters Most.” The faculty and staff here at Brookside are committed to being our very best so that together we can accomplish great things.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. I look forward to getting to know you this year.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
The National School Lunch Program waiver that provided free meals to students has expired. This means that school meals will no longer be automatically free. You will need to submit a Meal Benefits Application in order to qualify for free or reduced-price meals for the 2022-23 school year. Qualification is based on factors including household size, income, participation in assistance programs such as SNAP, FDPIR, and TANF, as well as living situations such as homelessness and migrancy.
Online applications will become available after July 12th. You may access an application by going to your Infinite Campus Menu, then scrolling down to More and clicking on Meal Benefits. Any application signed before July 12th does not pertain to the 2022-23 school year. As a reminder, households must apply every year to confirm eligibility for free or reduced-price meals.
If you do not qualify for free or reduced-priced meals, school meals are available at the paid rate of:
Elementary
Breakfast- $1.50
Lunch- $2.00
