From the Desk of the Superintendent
Please join us for a virtual community forum about the new elementary school building project on Thursday, January 25, 2024. For your convenience, we are offering two sessions via Zoom - one at noon and one at 7pm. Please register in advance by clicking on the buttons below:
There have been a lot of exciting developments in the planning stages of this project over the last few months and this forum will be a great opportunity for families and community members to receive the latest updates.
We will go over the project schedule, site plan, and what will be included in the new school, as well as give participants a first look at what the new school will look like with exterior and interior renderings. We will also discuss how this project will impact all elementary school families in Stoughton. There will be an opportunity for questions as well.

Sneak Peak of What New Elementary School Could Look Like
Speaking of the new elementary school, members of the working group for the building project visited the office of the project's architect, DRA Architects, on Wednesday to see some virtual renderings of the new school and to take a look at some samples for materials that could be used in exterior or interior areas of the building (like walls, floors, countertops, etc.). As mentioned in the update from Dr. Baeta above, you will also get to see these renderings at the virtual community forums on January 25.

SHS Students Attend District Attorney's Peer Leadership Conference
The winter edition of the SPS RN Newsletter is out and we want to highlight one of the items SPS Director of Health Services Danielle Gallan wrote about:
What brings me joy is working with students and other community members in the betterment of our community. The work we do surrounding the peer leadership conference is one of my favorite ways that this happens. Nine Stoughton High students were chosen to represent SHS at Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey's "Team Rival" Peer Leadership conference. The conference, held at Gillette Stadium, brought together students from the local area, identified as leaders in their respective school communities, to kick off friendly competition between rival schools while raising awareness for important issues like distracted driving, impaired driving, and emergency response training. The group from SHS was joined by Stephanie Patton from OASIS, SPS School Resource Officer Bonda, and Stoughton's own Detective David Fanning, who was a guest speaker at the conference.

The following students have art on display: Jenny Theriault (NAHS), Sharon Slaughter (NAHS), I.Robarge (NAHS), Ash Murphy (NAHS), Maggie Durand (NAHS), Arielle Rothman (NAHS), Marybeth Oggiano (NAHS), Nathan Adolphe (NAHS), Emma Byrne (NAHS), Ava Vieira, Garin Miner Drewes, Cody Campo, Myla Campo, and Jillian Falcione. They are in classes taught by SHS art teachers Kelli Jarasitis, Alyssa Dancey-Beaulieu, Jesse Stansfield, and Wendy Anello.
There will be a reception to celebrate the student art exhibit on Tuesday, January 30 at 6:30pm at the library.
