September Steamrolling!
Principal Newsletter #5: 2021- 2022 School Year
Dear Families,
It's hard to believe that we are six weeks into the school year. We are off to a great start! But you don't have to take my word for it...teacher and student positivity levels are high, and our early formative assessments show academic improvement across grade levels.
There's a ton of info in this newsletter, so I'll keep my part short. I hope you and your families are doing well, and I hope to see you at some of our upcoming in-person and Zoom events.
Sincerely,
Principal John DiCosmo

Join the Conversation: Understanding your Preteen/Teen
Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 7:00 PM
Let’s Talk Community Discussions are created specifically for local parents and caregivers to provide evidence-based information, practical tools and youth input on how to best navigate the pre-teen and teen years.
The series of 6 free community events (currently held via Zoom) are hosted on the first Wednesday of each month - October, November, December, February, March and April.
Topics include:
Understanding your Preteen/Teen
Just Say Know
Parenting Tools
Mental Health and Underage Substance Use
Policy and Law Enforcement
Harm Reduction
Based on community feedback from last year’s sessions, parents found these discussions informative, helpful and convenient. The evidence-based, culturally inclusive strategies and tools provide a common language and framework aimed at improving the health and well-being of all youth.
Invest 90 minutes to participate in one of the discussions and come away with new tools to support you and your family.
On October 6, 2021 at 7pm, we will be discussing Understanding your Preteen/Teen with Yale trained psychiatrist Dr. Emily Tejani along with Annika Danne, a student representative from Redwood High School.
