Important Updates AND Dates
Term 2 - 24 May 2023
Important - Asbestos Removal Saturday 27 May
This Saturday (27 May) Environmental Solutions (asbestos removal specialists) will be managing the safe removal of a minimal quantity of asbestos from within our construction site.
This will be managed in line with MOE requirements;
- air testing will be carried out through the process of removal and will be signed off by an inspection on completion
- all waste will be bagged at the site of removal, stored in a hazardous goods bin within the fenced site, then transported off site and disposed of on the same day.
Signs will be placed at all entries to the school grounds to restrict access, although the removal can be safely managed from within the fenced site and we encourage our families to avoid visiting the school grounds at all on Saturday 27 May.
We will also send out a reminder closer to the time.
Our Annual Plan for 2023 & Financial Report for 2022 - Available now online
Our strategic goals for 2021 - 2023 and annual plan for 2023 is now available to our school community through our website. Please scroll down to 'Board Reports'. Alternatively - click on the image below.
Although we are in the final year of our three year strategic plan, you will see that our annual plan looks quite different. We are working to:
- align the plan to the new National Education and Learning Priorities (NELP) that came into effect in January.
- capture the essence of the kaupapa that has been shared with us so far by our whānau Māori.
- plan specific actions with clear sharing of responsibility, timelines and measurable outcomes. We hope this will also make the school foci clear for families.
We have also updated the front pages to reflect:
- Our refreshed vision and values
- Our vision for giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Our revised strategic goals
- The new planning and reporting guidelines/key objectives for Boards
We are releasing this document as a 'working document', in fact, you will see that aspects are still a 'work in progress'. This is because reflecting the voice of our community is important to us, and work that is ongoing in nature. We know we have much work to do and are committed to listening and learning. We expect the feedback from this year's annual planning to inform our approach for 2024.
We invite your feedback on the document so far either via email or as part of our conversation to inform our strategic and annual planning for 2024 and beyond - see below.
Looking to the future - planning for 2024 and beyond:
We will be having conversations with our community in an ongoing way, through various avenues (including hui at our upcoming Matariki evening) from the end of June through to the end of August this year. This will inform our next round of strategic planning to guide the school direction into 2024 and beyond. Please get involved and share your thoughts, feedback or kōrero with us about your priorities for the school. More communication will come home about this in June, but every conversation is a good opportunity to tell us what you think or share your priorities for your children's school.
