Arrival Safety
Please remember that morning arrival time at school can be chaotic and sometimes stressful. Here are a few important reminders:
1. Remember the speed limit in the parking lot is 5 mph.
2. Visibility is often challenging in the morning, and more so during stormy weather. Please observe and follow all directions given by crossing guards. This includes not driving around unloading cars; observing STOP signs; and not parking on a crosswalk.
3. Do not use the bus lane for drop off. This space is only for buses. They need to drop off and head to the secondary campus.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our students, staff, and families safe.

How does your family stay active?
The 3-5 gym would love to display your student staying active outside of school! Our bulletin board features staff members and their families staying active and now we invite your student to join! We would love to display as many kids being active as possible. Photos can picture just your student or other friends/family members as well! You can send your student to school with a printed photo or email photos to swilkins@cascade.k12.or.us to add to the wall. Let's fill the bulletin board!
Read Every Day January Challenge
In January, grade alike classes will be competing to see who can read the most. The rules will remain the same for Read Every Day. You must read at least 15 minutes on 5 different days to count towards the goal. The class from each grade level who has the most students turn in a Read Every Day Reading Log, with at least 15 minutes of reading, on 5 different days will be selected to have a pizza party. To increase the likelihood of winning, read every day, for 5 days in a row, for at least 15 minutes, and immediately turn in your reading log after finishing. Get a new log and new books and start the process again for the whole month.
Good Luck to everyone and may the most dedicated readers win!
Alex Zerbe is Coming to Aumsville Elementary!
We are so excited for our Alex Zerbe assembly on Friday, January 12 at 1pm.
The Zaniac Comedy Show is a cultural experience that exposes students to the worlds of comedy, music, circus arts, and self-expression while emphasizing creativity, literacy, and persistence.
With captivating amounts of energy, The Zaniac moves like a rubber band from one end of the stage to the other. Beatboxing, juggling, dancing, rapping and live music looping are just a few of the things that led Piers Morgan of America's Got Talent to call Alex, "The total package."
Prepare to be blown away with an onslaught of visual and verbal comedy as Alex zigzags between absurd ideas and odd skills. He entices audience volunteers out of their shell and encourages self-expression.
Every audience volunteer leaves the stage in triumph!
Alex's unique personality is living proof that it’s okay to be different, to act and dress differently and to explore anything that makes you passionate. An anti-bullying message can easily be incorporated into this performance.
Thank you to our Aumsville PTC for sponsoring Alex Zerbe. The money our families raise during the Annual Move-a-Thon pays for assemblies and activities for our students!
Volunteers
It truly takes an “all hands on deck” mentality to run a school effectively. If you are interested in volunteering in your student’s class, chaperoning a field trip, or helping out behind the scenes, please begin the background check process found here or on the Cascade School District website on the “parents and students” page.
The background check process takes two-four weeks, is completely free, and lasts for two years. We recommend completing this early in the school year so as to avoid delay.
You no longer need to provide proof of COVID vaccination in order to volunteer.

Compliment Corner
Too often we underestimate the power of a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn life around. If you would like to publically compliment someone at Aumsville Elementary or a community partner at an Aumsville Elementary event, you may do so here.
The compliment will show up in the next Panther Periodical!
