AHS Food Drive Begins Tomorrow!
Dear Atholton Families,
Atholton High School will host the Installation Ceremony for the Howard County Executive and Members of the County Council tomorrow evening. Congratulations to those being installed:
Dr. Calvin Ball, Howard County Executive
Liz Walsh, District 1
Dr. Opel Jones, District 2
Christiana Rigby, District 3
Deb Jung, District 4
David Yungmann, District 5
As a result, all of our activities have been impacted. Our school will officially shut down at 4:30 pm so that the members from the installation ceremony can begin setting up for the events taking place later in the evening, and a security sweep can be done. No one should be in the building after this time, so please be sure your child(ren) is picked up before then.
As we have entered the season of giving, Atholton High School is celebrating the Season of Giving with a Food and Diaper Drive for the Howard County Food Bank! The Howard County Food Bank is looking for donations of Canned Food, Soup, Pasta, Rice, Baby Food, Diapers, Peanut Butter, and more this holiday season (see list below), so please consider donating.
We are making this food drive competition between third-period classes. Therefore, parents, if you drop off items, please ensure your child’s name is on the bag/items so their third period can get credit! There will be cardboard boxes in every third-period classroom and one in the front vestibule for donations. As this is a community drive, we will also have boxes at our athletic events – bring items to drop off as you come to support our athletes! The drive will be from now until January 4th, so please donate as much as you can!
Lastly, this past Friday, we honored those students who achieved the honor roll for the first quarter. Students were rewarded with ice cream treats during their lunch shifts. Congratulations to all of our students and their families who support them in their academic success. We have created a new honor roll display outside the senior cafeteria (as you walk toward the gym). If you are in the building, please take a moment to take a look.
Have a fantastic week!
Warmest regards,
Robert A. Motley

Hello Atholton Parents,
One of the many ways the Atholton High School Music Boosters raise funds for the wonderful music programs is through gift and discount cards. Just in time for the holidays or for your own personal use throughout the year, these cards bring in much-needed funds for all our Music programs. Here are our two current promotions:
RaiseRight Gift Cards
Formerly known as ShopWithScrip, RaiseRight offers gift cards that give a certain percentage (usually between 4% and 10%) of the face value to our Music program. There are hundreds of brands that can be used to pay for everyday (and not-so-everyday) expenses. There are a couple of ways you can participate in this program:
1) Group Gift Card Order - We will be placing a group gift card order for plastic gift cards in time for the holidays. Placing a group order helps us maximize our profit by reducing shipping costs. If you would like to place an order, please fill out the attached form and email it to Terumi McKenna (chrisjmck@aol.com) by DEC. 9TH. You can visit http://www.RaiseRight.com to see a full list of participating vendors and write in any company not listed on the order form, along with the denomination and number of cards requested.
Payment can be via:
-Paypal at AHSMusicTreasurer@gmail.com
or
-Write a check made payable to Atholton Music Boosters and mail it to Terumi McKenna (please email chrisjmck@aol.com for the address).
You will be notified when the cards arrive to arrange to pick up or delivery.
2) Individual Gift Card Orders - You can establish your own account which will allow you to pay via credit cards or directly from bank accounts. Follow these instructions to register and create an account online:
- go to http://www.RaiseRight.com
- click on “Join a Program”
- enter our Enrollment Code: 93DL43D53LL65
You can also download the Raise Right app on your iPhone or Android device and use the same sign-in information if you’ve already created a RaiseRight account. Please note that any orders placed through the website or app may incur additional payment and shipping (if physical gift cards are requested) fees. You can avoid shipping costs if you request an "eGift," which can be printed at home.
Also note that you can purchase these gift cards throughout the year for other holidays, special occasions, or for personal/professional use. When you create your account, check that you want to receive emails from RaiseRight when they are offering special additional bonuses (e.g., until Dec 9 Home Depot is offering 7% bonus to our program, instead of the normal 4%).
Local Business Discount Cards
New to our fundraising program this year, we have discount cards for local businesses that help promote those vendors who are willing to help benefit our Music program. Each card includes discounts for fifteen different local vendors such as Papa Johns (BOGO), Dominos (50% off), Meineke & Jiffy Lube ($10 off oil change). The second attachment below shows all of the participating vendors. The cards are $20 each and can pay for themselves with just two purchases.
These cards are not only great for personal use, as they can be used numerous times through 10/31/2023, but also make great gifts for friends, neighbors and family in the local area. Please contact Greg Giering at ggiering@yahoo.com for more information or to order your card(s).
If you have any questions regarding these two programs, please reach out to us directly.
Thank you for your support of the Atholton Music programs!
