Preparing and inspiring students to apply learning in a changing, complex, and interdependent world.
Mr. Bueti explains the unique shape of red blood cells and their function.
Curriculum & Instruction
Students work on real world problems individually and in groups that enable them to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Students in video production learn and create professional videos.
Students work on projects for the Chamber Art Show held at the Palisades center in March. The theme for this year is "poTENtial".
Students explore Western civilization. Students recently read Jane Yolen's story, "Encounter", to learn about a different perspective (Taino) of the civilization process.
Under the leadership of Mrs. LoSardo, seventh grade students learn how a bill becomes a law. Students work in groups to propose a bill which they feel will help solve situations relevant to themselves and their community.
Music production students create unique parodies of their choosing.
5th grade students collaborate in groups to deepen their understanding of adding and subtracting fractions.
Students in French class team up to conjugates verbs.
Mrs. Connolly provides examples and assists student during a matching game do now.
In Physical Education, students explore risk taking and strategy analysis as they collaborate to gather the most cones.
Awards & Recognition
Under the leadership of Mrs. Taylor and the Barr student council, over 100 students came out to the New City bowling alley to have some fun and give back to the community!
Wrestlers compete against the Felix Festa blue team and dominate.
The boys modified team defeated Nyack Middle School 52-51 in an epic buzzer beater victory. The boys ended their season with a winning record of 6-5.
Adventures at Barr
Students discuss the importance of Veterans who selflessly served in our armed forces.
In certain classes throughout the school, students work on puzzles to celebrate National Puzzle Day. Scientists have discovered that when we work on a jigsaw puzzle, we utilize both sides of the brain, improving memory, cognitive function and problem solving skills in the process. By utilizing puzzles, people can stimulate the brain to improve a number of skills.

The Spirit Wear Donation Station is now accepting lightly used or new clothing. Please help by dropping off the clothes you are no longer using, or don't fit into, in the box outside of the main office.
Grade 7 and 8 "Wonder Girls" attended a Safety Summit at Dominican College on Friday, January 26th.
During a faculty meeting, teachers create and divide pie charts into minute chunks, representing what a 42 or 55 minute period portrays in their classroom. Teachers then share helpful strategies and best practices with their colleagues pertaining to their respective classrooms.
During lunch, students participate in a "limbo" contest.
