Hello Burns Park Families,

We have almost made it to Thanksgiving break! During this time, we'd like to share how grateful we are for your continued partnership. The students, families and staff go above and beyond everyday to support one another. We are thankful to have such a wonderful team and community. Wherever you are spending your Thanksgiving break, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving day - one that is filled with relaxation, laughter and delicious food.

As a reminder, report cards and NWEA reports will be sent home via email. You will receive an email on November 21st with directions on how to access these secure documents. This will be the first of three report cards this year. Please note - not all outcomes on the report card are assessed Term 1, but every outcome will be assessed by the end of the year.

We would like to hear your voice and feedback about the biggest school wide events that occur at Burns Park throughout the school year. If your family foresees any of the following presenting a financial burden to participation can you please let us know here. We would like to ensure that we can support families in advance and this information will help us plan and prepare.

The main office is in need of gently used pants and new underwear donations for our kinders when accidents occur. If you have any donations, they can be brought to Meghan or Christina in the office. Thank you!

Early Release Day - Dismissal @ 1PM

As we are headed into the Winter season, which also may be known as cold/flu/COVID season, the Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) is looking for substitute teachers and paraeducators to support our classrooms. If you are a passionate person who enjoys connection with students EduStaff is looking for you. Substitute positions are necessary and meaningful work that enriches the lives of students in our community. If you, your family or friends are interested in making an impact, we encourage you to support the AAPS team as a substitute teacher or paraeducator. If you are dropping off your student at school, you MUST use the drive line drop-off. You cannot use Granger or Wells as a drop-off point. If you would like to park and walk with your student in the morning, please do so at designated parking areas. Thank you for helping to keep our students safe.

Please remember that for all during school hours events and field trips, a background check for volunteers is required. You may find a digital copy here. Please submit all copies to the front office or email them to nollenm@aaps.k12.mi.us. If you would like a physical copy, please visit Meghan or Christina in the front office. Thank you!

At Burns Park, we offer many opportunities for families to become active within our community. We invite all families to find ways to be a part of their student's school experience that works best for their needs.

We are in great need of additional support during lunch and recess time. If you are able to volunteer a few times a week, please let us know.

If you are able to commit to 5 days a week for the entire school year, you might consider applying for a noon hour supervisor position at our school. A typical work day will run from 11:00 AM -1:00 PM.

If you are interested in being a Noon Hour Supervisor, please:

1. Email Mrs. Bullock, jonesl@aaps.k12.mi.us and

2. Complete the AAPS Noon Hour Application as soon as possible. The job ID # is 15352– Noon/Lunch Hour Supervisor
