Dear District 57 Families,
Connectedness is at the core of District 57’s efforts. We work to connect our students with stimulating curriculums and exciting opportunities, staff with research-based teaching tools for classroom success and professional growth, and parents/guardians with the information they need to act as a partner in their child(ren)’s education.
In this spirit of connectedness, I hope you will join me Tuesday, October 4, 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., as I host the first Superintendent Coffee & Conversation of the school year at the Mount Prospect Golf Club, 600 South See-Gwun Avenue. We can use this opportunity to share ideas and ask questions in an informal venue. I hope to see you there. No RSVP is required.
Separately, this past week you’ve received correspondence regarding our current districtwide Equity Audit. We have been thrilled to have many parents/guardians express interest in participating in a focus group. As a reminder, we have limited spots for this opportunity; however, all D57 families will be invited to share their voices through the parent/guardian survey, which will be emailed to all families in the coming weeks. Parents of students in 4th-8th grade also received an additional email on September 13, which included information about options for student participation in the equity audit. Parents of 4th-8th grade students should be sure to check their child/ren’s backpacks tonight, which includes a printout of this email with more information.
Yesterday marked the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month! We celebrate and recognize Latin American and Caribbean families and cultures that form such an important part of our communities!
