CAASPP Practice Week!
HESD students are preparing to take the Smarter Balanced Assessments this coming Spring as a part of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) System. The primary purpose of the CAASPP System is to assist teachers, administrators, students, and parents by promoting high-quality teaching and learning through the use of a variety of assessment approaches and item types.
The Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment tests will be taken in May. The English language arts, math, and science tests will not be taken on the same day. The tests will include critical thinking and problem solving questions. These assessments are not timed, so students will have plenty of time to complete their tests.
For more information about the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments you can visit: https://bealearninghero.org/in-the-classroom/smarter-balanced/Picture Day Make-ups!

Extended Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP)
ELOP provides afterschool and summer school enrichment programs for transitional kindergarten through sixth grade.
“Expanded learning” means before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. Our ELOP programs complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year.
We are encouraging students and educational partners to register with their mobile devices! Online Link for Interest Form: HERE
Copies of the Interest forms and flyers with QR codes are available in our front office.
