A Few Words from the Principal
October is Bully Prevention Month.
During our next Pack meeting we will start planning for our Bully Prevention Month door decorating contest. Packs will be challenged with decorating the door to their Pack room with information and resources about bullying prevention. The doors will cover a variety of topics including:
what bullying is
what to do if you are being bullied
what to do if you see someone being bullied
the impact that bullying has on individuals
Strategies to help people be kind to each other
Doors must be decorated by the end of the day on October 25. We will share the winning doors in a future Wolf Wire.
If your student shares with you that they are being bullied, please reach out to us here at MTMS or complete the online reporting form:

Without the link it can be found this way-

Thank you for your support in making MTMS a kind place.
Take care,
Jennifer Smith
Principal
Science Olympiad

Spelling Bee
Spelling bee season is right around the corner! The first, qualifying rounds will take place in ELA classes this November. Start studying now with the list posted to your ELA teacher's Canvas page.
From StuCo
Nearly one in two families with young children report not having enough diapers to keep their child clean, dry, and healthy. Student council wants to help address this need by challenging students and families, during the month of October, to bring in children's diapers and baby wipes. All donations benefit HappyBottoms, Kansas City's diaper bank.
From Nurse K.
Immunizations
The Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) and the Meningococcal vaccine dose 1 are required for 7th grade students.
Please use the following link for USD 232 Vaccination Policy and Requirements
https://www.usd232.org/Page/3183
Documentation of Immunizations must be turned into the school by the 2nd Monday of October, October 9, 2023. If vaccinations are not completed, students may not attend school after that date until the required immunization is completed.
Please contact MTMS school nurse with questions. Vaccinations on file can be viewed in Skyward Family Access under Health Info then select Show Vaccinations in the Display Options.
Illness and Covid
Please report any symptoms of illness to the school. Please be specific- report symptoms such as sore throat, nausea, fever instead of reporting “ill” or “sick”. Giving symptoms helps with Health Department Reporting and to see illness trends in the district.
Remember students are to be fever and/or symptom free 24 hours before returning after an illness.
Illness and Covid policy can be found by clicking on the following link:
From PTA
Did you know that PTA backs Teacher Grants for our amazing educators? They can request funds from PTA for things that impact students in their classrooms that the district does not necessarily cover. We recently received a request from 8th grade Pathways teacher, Ms. Ellen Gould, "I was wondering if the PTA would be able to fund some gifts for my guest judges. I have five people coming in from Barkley (a local, KC advertising agency) to provide real-world feedback to my students on their marketing presentations. I'm very grateful to them for sharing their time with us and wanted to show my appreciation. Thank you so much!!" Due to your support, PTA was able to approve this request, so we wanted to share Ms. Gould's appreciation with you! We are very grateful to our MTMS community for your support in helping make things like this possible.
A heartfelt thank you for your amazing support as PTA works to rebuild a budget post-pandemic! With your help, we've raised almost $3000 to enrich the lives of our scholars through our restaurant fundraisers this school year. So, please join us for the next event all day on RED Thursday, 10/12 at our local Papa John's - 22358 W. 66th St. for delivery or carry out. Enjoy the Chiefs/Broncos game with pizza for a great cause! It's going to be busy so place your orders now. And, kindly be sure to use code MTMS online or mention it while ordering over the phone! Feel free to reach out to Andrea Lerner at (620)757-0349 with questions
Stop by the PTA table at Showcase Night if you would still like to purchase a Pura Vida bracelet or MTMS stickers!
And follow us on our website, BandApp, Facebook, and Instagram.
