Falcon Express Update to Families
October 2, 2023
Message from Principal Higgs
Dear Falcon families,
I hope you are doing well. I wanted to touch base regarding the safety of our students during drop-off and pick-up times. Recently, we have noticed an increase in parents attempting to bypass the car line by parking in the surrounding parking lot and then having their students walk to the car for pickup. Unfortunately, this practice is unsafe, as vehicles enter and exit the campus while students walk through the parking lot.
To ensure the safety of all students, we will be increasing supervision and redirection of students who attempt to leave the car line area. Students cannot walk to the surrounding parking lots to meet their parents in their cars. All car riders must be picked up from the car line area. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation in enforcing these safety rules, as the safety of our students is our top priority.
I also want to remind you that we always need volunteers, and you can register to volunteer on campus by completing a Dividends application. Please consider completing the application using this link https://www.scps.k12.fl.us/district/departments/community-involvement/dividends_application.
Thank you for your continued support, and I hope you have a PRIDE-filled week.
Sincerely,
Principal Higgs
Campus Procedure Update
Our campus will soon adopt a new management system called Minga. This is a campus-wide tool that tracks specific student actions and provides digital acknowledgment through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). For more information on how Minga will be implemented on our campus, please refer to the attached document.

Partner With Us - We are Millennium
Additionally, we are looking for members to join the School Advisory Council (SAC). This group represents the school, the community, and those closest to the students. SAC is crucial in preparing and evaluating the school improvement plan (SIP). We would love for you to join us as a SAC member, and our next meeting will be held on October 10, 2023, at 5:00 PM in the media center.
Athletic Update
Parental Authorization Form - Volleyball Games
SCPS has developed a plan to adhere to the requirements set forth by the Florida Department of Education’s Board Rule 6A-10.089, Section (5) which requires parent or guardian notification and permission forms for all school-sponsored events, activities, and supplemental programs. Over the next few days, weeks, and months, teachers, sponsors, and administrators will be sending notification and permission forms for any school-sponsored events, activities, or supplemental programs your child plans to attend. Please keep your eye out for these forms so that your child is able to participate.
