Greetings, Families!

We hope you enjoy the long weekend! There is no school on Monday, September 5th.

Reminders -

The OMS playground is closed before school and during school hours. You are welcome to use Greens Park when our grounds are closed. Students are not allowed to be on the equipment or playing basketball/football on the blacktop. Please remind your children when they arrive at school they need to report directly to their grade level line.

The Fire Department has scheduled our fire evacuation drill for Monday, September 12.

**Please note that we will be setting off the alarm for this drill. We will go on the PA system to let our staff and students know the alarm will sound prior to the drill.

We have scheduled our first two High-Five Friday's with Hersey High School! Please mark your calendars for September 16th and October 14th.

High Five Friday's are mornings in which teams or clubs from Hersey High School allow their students to come to OMS to create a "human tunnel" to welcome our students to school in the morning. Often, we have several AHPD officers join the tunnel as well since this is coordinated by our School Resource Officers. On these days, all students line up on the blacktop like we did for the very first day of school. As lines are dismissed to head inside students walk with their teachers through the tunnel. For our students that do not wish to participate walking through the tunnel they may enter the building at door 7 on the playground where we have staff members waiting to greet them. OMS is in need of a parent volunteer to act as a liaison between OMS and the ABC 25 Foundation!

• Expectations of liaisons

• Meetings are held once a month with a little more frequency closer to race date.

• School liaisons should attend each meeting. Responsible for communicating race information to the principal for school distribution. This information will be provided by the director. Responsible for promoting the race at their school - sharing FB posts, morning announcements, videos, etc.

• Throughout the time of planning, everyone will have the opportunity to volunteer for additional team roles:

• T-shirts, Sponsorships, Expo Coordinator, Awards, Volunteers
