Level Up, Imagineers!
Level Up with PRIDE - Week #15🎮
Greetings, STEAM Family!
November has already been quite eventful at SDE, and it seems like it’s just getting started! Not only did we host a delicious Thanksgiving luncheon for our Pre-K through 1st grade families, but we also honored and celebrated the Veteran relatives of our amazing students and staff during our annual Veterans Day Program. Filled with special tributes such as readings, poems, and patriotic selections by our very own chorus, SDE was proud to honor those men and women who died serving our country, as well as celebrate those soldiers who are still alive and served in the forces at any time, during peace or war. SDE salutes YOU! Please be sure to check out some of the pics from these events below.
This week, our family will celebrate World Kindness Week by wearing daily “theme colored tops” with uniform bottoms and pledging to empathize with others while developing an understanding that even the smallest act of kindness can go a long way. Don't forget this Tuesday, November 14th at 5:30 pm, we are looking forward to seeing all of our parents/guardians for our Academic Parent-Teacher Team (APTT) meeting. 2nd Nine Weeks Progress Reports will be distributed during this time. The week will end with our annual Career Day festivities! Community stakeholders from a variety of business sectors will share with our scholars all about their careers, along with the education and skills that are required for success in the field. This is one of the many ways we are helping to ensure all DCS students are career and college ready and globally competitive.
During this time of Thanksgiving, I would like to express my gratitude and thank you for being such an important part of our children’s lives. This is a wonderful time of the year to get together with friends and family to celebrate and be thankful for all the wonderful people in our individual "villages". On behalf of the Susie Dasher Elementary staff, we would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a safe and happy holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone back on November 27th.
In the meantime....
WHO ARE WE???...😄
Thanksgiving Lunch & Veterans Day
World Kindness Week
Congratulations, Mrs. Covin & Mrs. Pittman!
The faculty and staff would like to "LEVEL UP" as we congratulate Mrs. Olivia Covin (left) and Mrs. Shawanda Pittman (right) for being selected as our Teacher & Support Staff Members of the Month for October. Mrs. Covin diligently serves as an outstanding 1st Grade Teacher, and Mrs. Pittman serves as our new Family Engagement Coordinator.
Great Job, Ladies!🙂🎮
'Leveled Up' for Literacy & Stakeholder Engagement
In an effort to support literacy and promote a love of reading for our scholars, members of the Tau Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. presented Principal Fluker with several new books to add to our library, along with a generous donation to go towards AR rewards and additional uniforms for our scholars.
'Thankful' for our Community Partners
We appreciate our partners, Christ Chapel, for hosting monthly appreciation initiatives for the faculty and staff of SDE. This month, we were treated to a delectable luncheon!
PRIDE After School Program
As a gentle reminder, beginning this week, the P.R.I.D.E. Afterschool Program will resume for students in grades 2nd - 4th ONLY. Parents, thank you again, for your understanding and cooperation.
Daily Reminders for SDE:
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Parents, please make sure your child maintains regular attendance and arrives to school in a timely manner. Students are tardy at 8:15 am. Five (5) tardies and/or early dismissals count as one (1) unexcused absence. Student attendance will be a part of criteria used to determine eligibility for school-wide celebrations. Remember, every minute really counts!
- Weekly grade level newsletters will be sent home each Monday, so please check your child's folder and/or book bag.
- The dress code will be enforced DAILY at SDE! Any "Dress Down" days will be communicated in advance. Repeated dress code violations will result in students becoming ineligible to participate in school-wide and/or classroom PRIDE celebrations and events! Please make sure your child adheres to the required dress code. Remember, the P in PRIDE stands for "Personal Responsibility".
