The Board of Education provides a "Board Meeting Summary" after each Board meeting. The summary includes a brief description of the main topics and action items. These summaries are not meant to replace minutes. The minutes for each meeting are approved and posted after the next regularly scheduled meeting. We hope these summaries provide some basic information and context around the reports, presentations and action items. Action

Appointment of Board Member to Fill Vacancy | listen

The Board reviewed applications of the individuals to fill the vacancy following the resignation of Dr. Martelli. The board came to consensus to appoint Dr. Steven Miko to fill the vacancy.

Dr. Bruno also provided information about the process used by the Board to make the appointment. He explained that the process is controlled by Policy 2:70, which states “Immediately following a vacancy on the School Board, the Board will publicize it and accept résumés from District residents who are interested in filling the vacancy. After reviewing the applications, the Board may invite the prospective candidates for personal interviews to be conducted during duly scheduled closed meetings.” The Board received nine applications and interviewed three individuals.
