PTO Trunk-or-Treat
Thank you to our PTO for a wonderful Trunk-or-Treat this past Friday night. Our community had a wonderful time trunk-or-treating, enjoying concessions while playing games and connecting as a community. A big thank you to those hosting a trunk and passing out candy, you were a huge part in making the night a success!
Sixth Grade Recess Games
Last week, our 6th graders worked together by reading articles about different recess games and the rules that align with the games. In their small groups, they aligned what they felt was the most important information to design a poster related to their article and their prior experiences. After designing their posters, we discussed each game and its rules as a class and as a grade level to develop common language and expectations. Students have revisited the posters this week to add on or adapt as we applied our new shared learning to recess play. We are proud of their effort to work together and hold each other accountable.

Wednesday, October 25th from 4:30 to 7:30 PM
Thursday, October 26th from 1:00-3:30 PM & 4:30-7:30 PM

Second Step Social & Emotional Learning Curriculum
As you know, Fraser Public Schools utilizes Second Step Curriculum in all K-8 classes to further strengthen our social and emotional learning. Second Step offers weekly, age-appropriate virtual lessons for students to help them with a variety of social and emotional skills. These weekly lessons build on and support all of the great work we're doing at Ike to support our students. Combined with our schoolwide restorative practices and consistent PBIS expectations, we are creating a firm Tier 1 foundation for supporting all of our students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
This week, each grade-level will begin a new unit. Please view the grade-level home links below to learn more about what your child is learning and how to support them at home during the second unit of Second Step.
Parent Access to CANVAS
All Fraser classroom teachers provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments to students utilizing the Canvas LMS. As a result, students have continuous access to the course materials and information regarding their achievement.
Parents/Guardians can also have continuous access to their student’s course materials and grades in Canvas by creating a parent/observer account. In addition, parents of multiple students can easily switch between their students to view grades and assignments within the same parent account.
All sign up information and resources are provided on the Fraser website.
Important reminders when using Canvas:
- Canvas works best in Chrome
- Please do not install the Canvas app (for parents or students). We are not supporting it as our staff and students are utilizing the web-based version of Canvas and it looks and works differently.
- If you signed up and paired with your students last year, you still have access to those students and their new courses this year.
- If you need to add more students to your account this year, please follow the directions provided below.
- If you have forgotten your password, you can use the Forgot Password? link on the parent sign in page. Then, enter the email address you used to set up the account to receive a password reset email.
- If you have forgotten the email you used, please reach out to Kim Keith, Kimberly.keith@fraserk12.org, for additional assistance.
Chess Club is back!
5th Grade Recorder Concert
Our concert is fast approaching! We are so excited to showcase our 5th-grade band in their recorder concert this Wednesday, October 18th at 6 P.M. in the Fraser High School gym. Students should enter through the gym doors, located at the north end of the parking lot of Fraser High School. Call time for students is no later than 5:30 P.M. There is no specific attire required; however, students were asked to dress up.
After the concert is over, rental night will begin! A&G Music and Eastside music will have tables set up outside to get your student an instrument. After your student has their instrument, there are instrument specific rooms with high school volunteers that will help your student set up their instrument and make their first sounds!

Halloween Around Disney
Classroom Activities: Classrooms/grade levels may be planning for Halloween activities and celebrations individually, either before or after the parade. If teachers request parent volunteers to help facilitate the classroom activities, all volunteers will have to submit a Background Check at least 48 hours prior to volunteering.
Costumes: Students may come to school in costume on Tuesday, October 31st. They can stay in costume for the duration of the day. Costumes need to be school appropriate and cannot depict violence or excess blood/gore. No fake weapons are allowed in school (i.e. toy guns, swords, blades, etc). Costume masks can be worn for the parade only, but not throughout the day. For costumes that have short skirts/shorts, leggings or pants need to be worn underneath.
Virtual Library Cards
Opt-In to Receive a Virtual Library Card
Fraser Public Schools has teamed up with the Fraser, Clinton-Macomb, and Roseville public libraries to offer all our students a virtual library card.
Virtual library cards provide students to access a variety of free resources, including:
- Tutor.com: Free individualized tutoring
- OverDrive: Free eBooks and eAudiobooks
- Ancestry: Free genealogy research
Families must opt-in to participate in this free program. Please complete this form by October 20.
Families will receive an email with login information in November. Virtual cards can also be upgraded to a full library card at your home library for more borrowing privileges.
Attendance Matters!
Showing Up Matters
Absenteeism during the first month of school can predict poor attendance for the remainder of the school year. Half the students who miss just 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school by June. We will soon begin contacting families of students who are showing signs of becoming chronically absent and working with them to improve attendance moving forward.
What is Chronic Absence?
Chronic absence is defined as missing 10 percent or more of the school year, or about 18 days of school. It includes all absences, both excused and unexcused.
How will Fraser Address Absenteeism?
We will soon begin reviewing attendance data every two weeks. Students who are absent 20 percent or more of the school year will receive a phone call home. They may also have to complete an attendance success plan.
Fraser Goodfellows Holiday Assistance
The Fraser Goodfellows are once again providing holiday assistance for those in need. Assistance is available to Fraser Residents OR students attending Fraser Public Schools. Please see the flyer linked below for additional information, registration dates & location.
