Partnership with BSU's Onramp Program
Whitney students in 1st through 6th grades are spending the next several weeks in the library working on innovative digital projects thanks to Boise State University's Onramp Program and a grant from Apple. The goals are for students to gain coding skills and learn how to problem-solve as they complete their projects. We appreciate Mrs. Fisse's efforts to give our students this opportunity.

Thursday, February 1st:
Boys Basketball Games after school. Yellow team plays at Amity. Blue team plays Grace Jordan at Whitney.
Friday, February 2nd:
- Whitney Spirit Day! Wear your Whitney gear or blue and yellow.
- Friday Family Fun during lunch recess (see schedule below).
Monday, February 5th:
- Boys Basketball Games after school. Yellow team plays at Hawthorne. Blue team plays Hillcrest at Whitney.
Thursday, February 8th:
- 6th Grade Band plays in concert at South Junior High, 7 PM.
Friday, February 9th:
- Friday Family Fun during lunch recess (see schedule below).
- St. Luke's Mobile Health Clinic at Whitney, 12:30 to 2:45 PM. Contact Mrs. Dennis at 208-900-7106 or the nurse's office at 208-854-6590 to make an appointment.
Wednesday, February 14th:
- Valentine's Day. Teachers will provide specific information about plans for that day. Please contact your child's teacher if you have questions about bringing valentines to school.

- Friday Family Fun during lunch recess (see schedule below).
Monday, February 19th:
- No school in honor of Presidents' Day.
Tuesday, February 20th:
- Parent Advisory Committee meeting, 8:45 - 9:45 AM in the Community Schools room. All parents welcome. We would love to have your input and ideas!
Thursday, February 22nd:
- 4th Grade field trip to Boise Philharmonic concert, 9:30 to 11:30 AM.
- Dual Language Information Night for parents of incoming kindergarteners, 5 to 6 PM (see flyer below).
Friday, February 23rd:
- Students with February birthdays receive treat at lunch.
- Friday Family Fun during lunch recess (see schedule below).

A Reminder About Birthday Celebrations
Each Monday, we announce students with birthdays for the week, and those students get to pick a book to keep from our Birthday Book Cart. Once a month, we provide a treat for birthday students in the cafeteria at lunch time. We made sure to celebrate June and July birthdays the last two months.
*We will no longer accept birthday treats or goodie bags for class birthday celebrations. This will help us celebrate every student and ensure we’re following BSD Board policy.
Open Enrollment
This year for the first time, current students who are open enrolled at Whitney are not required to complete applications to continue open enrollment next year. We will assume that your student would like to return next year, but please notify the office if your student plans to attend school elsewhere in the fall.
Fun at Recess
Our devoted playground staff work hard to provide fun and engaging at activities for students at recess. We are excited to be able to offer these special activities during our lunch recesses (weather permitting):
Monday: Obstacle Courses
Tuesday: Coloring
Wednesday: Wolverine Walking Club
Friday: Friday Family Fun
