- To be rescheduled - Girls' Geek Day Experience for rising K-2nd grade students. We are teaming up with the UVA School of Education to host a special session with Roversa Robotics. Your child will learn, have fun, express their creativity and help us do some research. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.
- September 2024 - June 2025 - Girl-Powered TechQuest from Blue Ridge Boost for 3rd-5th grade on Mondays, 3:30-5:00pm. This inclusive STEM class is dedicated to empowering girls, while warmly welcoming and encouraging participation from all genders.
- September 2024 - June 2025 - Girl-powered Drone Squad from Blue Ridge Boost for 5th through 11th grade on Sundays, 5:00-6:30. Calling All Future Female Drone Pilots and Engineers! Join our Girl-Powered Aerial Drone Competition Team! We’re forming an all-girl team for the REC Foundation Aerial Drone Competition.
- September 2024 - June 2025 - Girl-powered FTC from Blue Ridge Boost for 7th through 11th grade on Saturdays, 5:00-6:30pm. We welcome students of all levels to join the FTC team. No prior experience is necessary; we only ask for enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
- Girl-powered Fridays: Inspiring the Next Generation of STEM Leaders. These events are being hosted throughout the year for girls ages 6-8, 9-11 and 12-14 by Blue Ridge Boost. The events are free, but registration is required.
- Blue Ridge Boost - enrichment and tutoring in math and computer science.
- C4K - combines mentoring and technology to prepare youth for brighter futures. Participation is free and open to all students in grades 6th-12th who are eligible for free or reduced lunches at school.
- KidsCollege@PVCC After-School Academies offers online programming Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday and in-person Saturday mornings for students in grades 3rd-12th.
- Starr Hill Pathways - a program designed to offer Charlottesville area youth, career and college exploration and support them as rising 7th graders through high school.
- STEAM Discovery Academy - ind lots of STEAM-related after-school and summer programming for students in grades K-8th.
- Albemarle SWENext - Albemarle High School's Society of Women Engineers is a community of women who are passionate about engineering and STEM as a whole, and spreading the idea that engineering is for everyone.
- BACON (Best All-around Club of Nerds) - the internationally acclaimed science club at Charlottesville High School. Students work in self-directed teams in areas such as environmental impact, aerospace engineering, robotics, and more.
Virtual & Global
- Black Girls Code - partners with schools and organizations to offer a range of programs, both in-person and virtual, for ages 7-25
- Connected Girls - a free, curated directory of girl-serving STEAM opportunities.
- Girls Who Code - find clubs, summer immersion and code at home activities.
- Random Hacks of Kindness Jr. - find one-day hackathons where children in grades 4th–8th are matched with computer science mentors to work together to solve a charity's real-world need.
- Technovation Girls - a global program where girls and mentors can connect with Technovation Girls locally through Chapters and Clubs.
Tech-Girls
Tech-Girls was founded in 2012 by Kim Wilkens (aka Miss-Bit). Tech-Girls is all about empowering girls to imagine and achieve their future dreams in our tech-savvy world. We help girls imagine possibilities, discover their potential and create the solutions of the future! In 2015, Tech-Girls joined forces with Charlottesville Women in Tech, a 501c3 non-profit.
