Dear Lake Forest Community High School Families,
As is my tradition, I am forgoing the principal’s message to give some reading time for your one more chance to GOBBLE for our faculty and staff. It takes SECONDS, and it is always great to read about the wonderful ways our staff members support our students.
Happy Thanksgiving!

SCOUTS NEED TO KNOW
Career Connections
We are excited about our Career Connections programming for the 23-24 school year. These programs are designed to give our students access to professionals in our communities to develop a deeper understanding of a wide range of professional fields.
We have many healthy professional connections in the surrounding area for our students to learn and grow from. However, we can always expand our network! If you or other professionals you know are interested in participating in either the Open Doors Job Shadowing (February 16th), our Professional Panel series (lunch periods throughout Semester 2), or our Summer Job Opportunities and Internship Fair (March 5th), please let us know!

Did You Know? LFHS Foundation Enhances Teaching & Learning in Math
Effective math teaching is enhanced when teachers are provided with tools and training that allow them to provide students with a variety of ways to engage in learning. Over the years we have granted calculators, tools for teaching statistics, software to support instruction, K’nex Ferris Wheels for Trigonometry classes, SMARTBoards, technology for the flipped classroom, NCTM Conference fees, and professional learning experiences. The most recent grants to the math department have been calculators for use in class and for check out to ensure all students have the learning tools they need in the moment. We also funded the fees for seven math teachers to attend Dr. Jo Boaler’s Mathematical Mindset Workshop in 2020 and for the Instructional Director to attend a Math Leadership Summit while there. The staff came back from California inspired to consider changes to their instructional practice as well as the possibility of introducing new courses. Learn more about our grants http://www.lfhsfoundation.org/grants.html.
