Dominic Trujillo was selected as D11's Male Athlete of the Month! He leads the team in wins, takedowns, and pins. Congratulations to him and his coaches!

Stephen joined the Mitchell High School staff Monday, January 24th to speak to the importance of trust and how it aligns with our turnaround work. He provided an inspirational speech, along with inviting each participant to create their own action plan with next steps. Attendees included MHS staff, D-11 Leadership, and parents and community members.

Intermediate acting class is producing “Look Me in the Eye” to perform at the Pikes Peak Regional One Act Competition on Friday, February 4th. We’ll compete against 9 other high schools in the area.
Thespian is planning a variety show called “Mitchell has Talent” for Friday, February 11th after school.

Meet our English Language Arts Instructional Coach
Jennifer Chappell
We are proud to highlight Jennifer Chappell in this month’s Marauder Spotlight. Jennifer Chappell is an English Language Arts Instructional Coach who embodies the Marauder commitment to our ACCEPT core values. She brings an impressive depth of experience and expertise to her teamwork as a member of our instructional leadership team, and her ongoing work in our Professional Learning Communities and Freshman Success Teams has contributed to the significant achievement of strong growth for students on district benchmark reading assessments this year. She demonstrates both courage and excellence in her contributions to school-wide professional learning through co-facilitating Kagan Kafes, bi-monthly opportunities for teachers to learn and practice engagement strategies to use in their classes.

Innovation Plan
The results of the Innovation Plan vote are as follows:
- Innovation Plan vote passed with a 90% pass rate and 95% participation rate.
- Collective Bargaining Agreement modifications and waivers passed with a 96% pass rate and 97% participation rate.
This is an overwhelming demonstration of professional collaboration, collegiality, investment, and collective buy-in. I appreciate all the individual and collective effort and energy that went into the feedback, revision, and voting process.
Next Steps:
- The above results/information were shared at the BOE meeting on 1/26/22.
- The plan will be presented at the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) in the coming months.
