Comprehensive High School #3 and the Career and College Academy Naming Recommendations Study Session
Seth Johnson, Planning Principal for the Career and College Academy, and Raquel Martinez, Planning Principal for the Comprehensive High School #3, delivered an update on the naming process and name recommendations for Comprehensive High School #3 and the Career and College Academy during a study session.
Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Martinez discussed the comprehensive process resulting in the final recommended names for the Career and College Academy and the Comprehensive High School #3. The process included engagement of students, staff, families, and community through an interactive technology platform called ThoughtExchange and engagement with a volunteer committee.
Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Martinez provided valuable insights into the steps taken during each of the Naming Committee's three meetings, shedding light on the meticulous considerations made throughout the process. The study session offered board members the opportunity to actively engage with some of the Naming Committee members. This open dialogue allowed for the exchange of questions, clarifications, and insights, providing a comprehensive understanding of the naming process.
At the end of the study session, the board was presented with the Naming Committee's recommended names for both high schools.
Policy 1630 Evaluation of the Superintendent: Annual District Objectives
Michelle Whitney, PSD Superintendent, presented a draft of the action plans for the district's annual objectives for the 2023-2024 academic year. The key objectives for this year revolve around increasing student achievement in reading and mathematics while also undertaking revisions to the Superintendent's evaluation process.
Moving forward, Mrs. Whitney will be responsible for finalizing the essential actions and presenting evidence of progress towards achieving the annual district objectives through board reports and communications with the board.
Ambassador Session One
Michelle Whitney, PSD Superintendent, and Anna Tensmeyer, PSD's Director of Public Affairs, introduced the content for the 2023-2024 Ambassador program's first session, scheduled for November 8. The presentation had a dual purpose: to inform the board about the Ambassador program's content and to enhance the board's understanding of various district aspects presented during the 2023-2024 Ambassador sessions.
Mrs. Whitney highlighted what she will present during Ambassador Session one, including program objectives, an ice breaker for Ambassador including gathering Ambassador feedback on their learning expectations, an overview of the district, and a guided tour of the Booth Building. Mrs. Tensmeyer highlighted her portion of the presentation, including an overview of the Public Affairs Department and details about session two.
The next steps involve presenting the details for the second session of the Ambassador Program, scheduled for December 6, to the board during the November 14 board meeting.
