Note from Dr. Mullenschlader
As we continue to teach the students about the virtue of loyalty this month. The definition is kind of confusing and might be a lot for the little ones to understand. Accepting the bonds implicit in the relationships and defending the virtues upheld by Church, family, and country. I can't help but think about sports. Maybe its not always the best policy to compare faith and sports, but it can work. For so many years, Blues fans were loyal to the team without nothing to really show. But, the feeling of exhilaration that we received on June 12th night was pure euphoria. Truth be told that during those many years of waiting that that we had to endure, there were many nights of disappointment and struggle. It can be difficult to be loyal, but we remain steadfast in our loyalty because we believe in that which we are loyal to. It's a silly analogy, but for us St. Louisans, we get it! So, stay loyal to the things that matter the most, because in the end, that is going to matter so much more than a Stanley Cup. Have a blessed weekend!
Virtue of the Month
Loyalty - Accepting the bonds implicit in relationships and defending the virtues upheld by Church, family, and country.
St. John Fisher lived in the sixteenth century (1500's) and during a time of persecution of the Catholic Church by King Henry VIII. King Henry VIII tried to force Catholic bishops to join the Church of England, but St. John Fisher stayed true to this faith. He stayed loyal even in the midst of adversity.
The story is adapted from An Educator's Guide to living a Virtuous Life
Prayer.. Dear Jesus, Help me to be steadfast in my relationships and faithful to the duties those relationships entail, even when this may be difficult.
