REMINDERS LEADING UP TO THE HOLIDAY BREAK
- Please arrange student gift exchanges to occur off campus. Any student to student gifts brought to campus will be placed in the assistant principal's office and returned at end of the school day.
- Teacher gifts should be labeled clearly with the teacher and student's name. We will be checking gift bags when students enter the building.
- Food may not be provided for other students or shared with other students. This includes such items as: birthday cake, cupcakes, cookies, drinks, etc. This is a district policy and a safety issue.
- We do not have Holiday Parties.
- No lunch drop offs.
- Send early pick up requests to smithattendance@cfisd.net or send a signed note with your student to drop off at the attendance office before 1st period. Remember, if someone that is not a parent/guardian is sent to pick up your student, we need your written permission. Expect to wait 15-20 minutes if you do NOT send an early pick up request ahead of time. We will not be able to call for students after 2:50 p.m. Please plan accordingly.
- Lost and found bins in the cafeteria will be cleared out on December 21. Unclaimed items will be donated.
TYNKER SOFTWARE
We are thrilled to share some exciting news regarding an incredible opportunity for our students. As part of our commitment to providing a well-rounded education that equips students with essential skills for the future, we are introducing a new self-paced coding software, Tynker, which is now accessible to all students.
Coding is a valuable skill that goes beyond just programming computers. It fosters creativity, enhances problem-solving abilities, and develops critical thinking skills. Moreover, it has been proven to positively impact academic performance in areas such as writing and math. We believe that introducing coding at an early age sets the foundation for success in various fields and prepares our students for the ever-evolving digital landscape.
The Tynker software is designed to make coding engaging and accessible for all students. It offers a self-paced coding course that students can access conveniently from school or home using their Chromebooks. This flexibility allows students to explore the world of coding at their own pace, encouraging independent learning and problem-solving.
To access the Tynker software, students simply need to log in to their accounts on my.cfisd.net and click on the Tynker icon. Once they are in the Tynker platform, they can explore a variety of coding activities and lessons tailored to their grade level. The platform provides a user-friendly interface, making it easy for students to navigate and enjoy the learning process.
We encourage you to take a moment to explore Tynker with your child and engage in conversations about the exciting possibilities that coding can offer. By incorporating coding into their learning journey, we aim to empower our students with skills that will benefit them throughout their academic and professional lives.
Thank you for your continued partnership in fostering a love for learning and preparing our students for success.
