Working together to create "Our Beloved Community"
Bremerton School District's Restorative Program is endeavoring to create Our Beloved Community. Our Beloved Community is a learning environment where all of our scholars feel cared for. A place absent of violence, bigotry, and hate.
We believe that humans are holistic beings, and we must increase our awareness of our whole selves, in order to grow. If we are going to create a healthier, happier school climate, if we are going to close the achievement gap, if we are going to create competitive workers and forward thinking citizens, we are going to have to all work together, and strive to create our own "beloved community."
With care and compassion driving us, partnered with the use of restorative practices, we will transform our schools.
We at the Bremerton School District believe that if school officials, students, parents, and community all work together in a collaborative and inclusive manner, that we can and will accomplish this.
You are invited to observe the Beloved Community Listening Circle
You are cordially invited to observe the Beloved Community Listening Circle:
Monday, June 12, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
On Zoom (Click HERE to join)
You will be observing students, parents, teachers, administration, community members and organizations sharing their hopes and expectations for Bremerton Schools and our Beloved Community. We are using the restorative circle process where every voice within the circle will be heard. Community members online will have an opportunity to post questions in the Q & A during the webinar.
Over the next year, we will be holding monthly listening circles where all will have the opportunity to participate in-person and share their voice.
Please join us on this endeavor as we work together to transform our schools using restorative practices, inclusivity, love and shared humanity.

We've broken ground on the new sports complex at Mountain View Middle School!
As you may have seen in today's Kitsap Sun, we've broken ground on the new school and community multi-use sports complex at Mountain View Middle School today! This project is being funded by the replacement capital projects levy approved by voters in February, 2022.
- Construction will continue through summer of 2024.
- Major earthwork will be occurring this summer and neighbors may experience dust, equipment noise, and vibrations at various times.
- The contractor will utilize best management practices to limit disruption and inconvenience.
- The contractor will comply with the City of Bremerton’s noise ordinance.
This morning, School Board Directors visited the campus with to take a ceremonial groundbreaking photo to celebrate!
Thank you, voters - and thank you MVMS neighbors for your patience during the construction process!
(People in hard hats L-R): Dr. Garth Steedman, BSD Assistant Superintendent Finance, Operations, & Human Resources; School Board Director Jonee Dubos; School Board President Aly Rotter; School Board Vice President John Hurley; and BSD Interim Superintendent Donna Colosky. Thank you the MVMS 6th and 7th grade students who joined us for the photo!
Sports Officials Needed!
A message from Peninsula Officials:
Youth sports needs help from community members ages 16 and older. Earn money and be a part of giving back to the community while giving kids an opportunity to learn life lessons and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Interested in learning more? Join us for the annual official's appreciation barbecue at Bremerton High School on June 10. The event is open to all officials and anyone interested in learning more about becoming an official of any sport at the interscholastic level. We hope to see you on June 10 from 1 to 4 PM in the BHS Commons.
Visit peninsulaofficials.com for more information.
Reminder: Pandemic EBT funds are coming soon
This summer, you will receive additional Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) funds for student enrolled in the Bremerton School District (excluding West Sound Technical Skills Center) for the 2022-23 school year.
These cards will have $120 on them and are federally funded. All BSD families will receive them regardless of income based on BSD being part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which allows BSD to offer free breakfast and lunch to all enrolled students.
