HITEON HIGHLIGHTS NEWSLETTER
May 2020
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Hiteon Families,
It is hard to believe but we have been Sheltering in Place for seven weeks. We are missing our wonderful students and their boundless energy they bring each day to school. Online school just doesn’t have the same feeling as being together under one roof as a community of learners. We also are missing our amazing volunteers and all they do to make Hiteon such a special place to work. A few weeks ago was volunteer appreciation week, unfortunately, with all the changes that were taking place, we did not do a proper “Thank you”! Know in the near future we will be doing something virtually in appreciation of all our Volunteers.
Your Hiteon staff is doing all they can to bring new content lessons, activities, and time to meet in their classrooms. We understand that this new normal might be stretching you and your family but appreciate all the support you are providing your children and our staff. The week of May 4 - 8 is Staff Appreciation. Please think about reaching out and letting teachers and staff know how much you appreciate them.
Take care and be well!
Meghan Warren, Principal
Jenny Read-Emslie, Assistant Principal

Student Medication Pickup
Hello Parents,
On Wednesday, May 6th, from 9:30-11:00 am, we are asking families to come to school to pick up your child's medication curbside. Please make this a priority; we will not be able to offer a medication pick up again. Any medication not picked up will be discarded. Unfortunately, we are unable to hold it for you.
At the start of every school year, you are required to bring your child's medication to the office, along with completing new paperwork.
To adhere to the Social Distancing Guidelines, please follow this process when picking up Medications.
- Parents – on a piece of paper, write your child(ren)'s name in bold dark letters, so it is visible out of your car window.
- Please drive to Hiteon - do not walk or ride bikes, etc.
- Please remember that you have from 9:30-11:00 am to pick up, so don't feel like you need to be there right at 9:30 am. It would be helpful to think about arriving at different times during that window.
- Please enter Hiteon from Brockman or Davies, with both entrances merging to one lane in front of the school. Please see the attached map.
- Once in line, the process from BSD will be as follows- We will read the name from the car that the parent puts in the window and relay that to the other volunteer. While the parent pulls around, the volunteers pick the correct packet and place it on a table at the pick-up zone. The parent pulls up, takes the bag off the table, and drives away.
If you have any questions, please email valerie_sinnott@beaverton.k12.or.us.

Administrative Student Transfers
If your student is currently at Hiteon on an Administrative Student Transfers, remember that you need to fill out a new request for the 2020-2021 school year. Administrative Student Transfers are approved for one school year only and are not guaranteed from year to year.
Please contact your student's resident school if you have questions about Administrative Student Transfers and to initiate the necessary paperwork for the 2020-2021 school year.
Administrative Student Transfer forms should be submitted to the student's resident school. The resident school is the neighborhood school at which the student is assigned by the District's attendance plan (Policy JEA-AR).
Once a decision is made on either the approval or denial, the decision is final and there is NO appeal.
