Notes from the September 14, 2022 board meeting

- Approved the financial statements and payment of bills and expenses for August 2022.
- Approved having a student representative on the Board of Education as a non-voting member -- the student will bring a student perspective to the table when making decisions.
- Approved additional Eureka Math Professional Development & Coaching to support 3rd-5th grade level math instruction - Funding source: $71,000 (ESSER Funds).
- Approved Special School District (SSD) Partnership Agreement- Renewal.
- Approved revision on page 6 in the Safe Return to School Plan regarding notifications.
- Approved the new position of Executive Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The new role would support alignment of the FFSD Anti-Racist Standards as it relates to systemic equity and instructional practice.
- Approved the 2022-2023 organization chart
- Approved proposed policy changes due to legislative changes from Missouri General Assembly in Senate Bill 681 - included policies: 3056; 3057.1; 3067; 2010.1; 2017; 3066; 1041; 3069; and 2041. The policies encompass a wide range of student services and instructional topics.
- Approved revisions to the Student Expectation Code on pages 17-34 in accordance to the new Board policies 3035; 3041; and 3042.
The Board of Education Wants to Hear From You!
As part of the District's new strategic plan, Community Engagement and Communication is one of the priority areas. The Board is launching a monthly ThoughtExchange during each board meeting to ask stakeholders to share their thoughts on a given topic. The Board will review the results during their monthly Board study sessions to help guide the planning and the work of the District with your voice at the table.

- MSBA Board Report - The Board watched the monthly video update from Missouri School Boards Association.
- Equity and Access for All Strategic Plan Dashboard - Board members and the community the final dashboard layout to measure progress on the Strategic Plan. See the new dashboard here.
- FFSD will host a Support Staff Job Fair for all support positions on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022 at STEAM Academy Middle. The job fair is focused on non-certified positions including maintenance, facilities, building aides, custodial, food service, transportation and security.
- Internship update from the special assistant to the superintendent.
Starting in October 2022, FFSD will take over all substitute placement services transitioning away from using ESS. Starting on October 1, 2022, all substitute teachers will be FFSD employees. Important details can be found in the Board documents.

Next Board of Education Monthly Meeting Will Be October 12 @ 6 p.m.
The Ferguson-Florissant School District, located in suburban St. Louis, serves more than 10,000 students from preschool through 12th grade with an excellent comprehensive educational program. Fully accredited by the state of Missouri, the Ferguson-Florissant School District operates seven Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd-grade schools, six intermediate schools (3rd through 5th grade), two 6th grade centers, two middle schools, two A+ and NCA-CASI - accredited high schools, a cutting-edge STEAM middle school, and a STEAM high school, a student-centered learning Innovation School and a Restoration and Wellness Center. In addition, the District includes a nationally recognized early education program, the award-winning Challenger Learning Center space education facility, and the Little Creek Nature Area, a 97-acre nature preserve that offers experiential learning opportunities for students in science, biology, ecology, and related areas of study.
