Diploma Distribution TOMORROW!
Dear Atholton Families,
We have reached the month of June. Our normal was forever changed when we left Atholton on March 13. Who could have imagined that the end of our school year would look like this?! Nevertheless, each of you stepped up to the challenge and took it head on. Now we find ourselves having to close out the year given all of the new protocols required.
Tomorrow is senior diploma distribution day. I sent out the information and plan for the day. You can find the information below. A HUGE THANK YOU to our PTSA for their support in creating a memorable photo opportunity/station for our seniors tomorrow. There are some important pieces of information for our seniors tomorrow:
return any books/devices not previously turned in
students should be fully dressed in cap and gown (especially if they want a photo op)
students need to arrive during scheduled time, all students need to start at Station 1 located in the the Senior Parking Lot
only students and parents can pick up diplomas
for students wanting a photo opportunity at Station 4 with Mr. Motley - when leaving Station 3, exit bus loop by turning right onto Freetown Road then turn right into the auditorium parking lot, right again immediately and follow instructions of staff members,, students and parents must keep on mask until photo opportunity, vehicles will be directed to the photograph area where they will take a picture and receive a small token.
Please be patient during this process.
Our graduation, scheduled for next Monday, June 8 at 6pm may be viewed here. Our seniors have uploaded their videos for the virtual graduation. I hope you have the opportunity to view our graduation and the senior videos. They are so creative and the personalities of our seniors really shine.
The staff of Atholton will begin Phase 1 of re-entry to retrieve personal items and close out the school year. Next week I will provide more information on Phase 2 of re-entry for our 9th - 11th grade students and what that will look like.
Please take a look below at the end of year schedule and how grading is impacted. The last graded assignment for students will be assigned on June 8 for submission on June 12. The week of June 15-18 will have our students engaged in various activities supplied by our curriculum office. The schedule for the last three days of school (June 19, 22, & 23) has yet to be determined. I will communicate this as soon as it becomes available.
Here are the links to the senior awards, senior stars, and athletics awards. A special shout out to Lisa Clearfield, Dana Meledick, the entire Student Services Team, and Mike Senisi. Nice job on this projects!!
Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not address the events in our country that have caused concern amongst us all. The death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, highlights the fact that not everywhere is safe for everyone. Dr. Martirano and Board of Education Chair, Mavis Ellis, sent out a message addressing this incident and its impact on our community. The wonderful diversity of our school and community and our efforts to learn from and educate one another makes me so proud to be a part of this community.
Stay healthy and safe!
Warmly,
Robert A. Motley
Principal
