Dear Wredling Families:
The end of the school year is typically a celebration! Depending on who you are, the celebration might be for simply surviving the year or for getting straight A's... for making a new friend or for becoming organized. And our celebrations typically include awards assemblies, picnics, and trips to the park.
But this year is different.
This year our celebrations are quieter. We may celebrate our health, or that we still have a job. Our kids will likely celebrate not having another video meeting or lesson and that we are done with the school year. We celebrate that we are moving forward day by day.
My own celebration is that our kids, teachers, and families have, overall, done very well in a challenging time. And my gratitude is that we, as a community, have done it together, apart.
Thank you for a weird and wonderful school year. For becoming teachers and encouraging learning, especially when it was hard. We didn't get to see your kids this year to say goodbye which has made it hard for us. But we are grateful for having had the opportunity to teach your children.
Have a safe summer!
Tim
Wredling Parents, Guardians, and Students!
As today marks the end of our 2019-20 school year, we would like to take this moment to congratulate all of you on a wonderful year! We have several videos to share with you today!
- In honor of your class, we would like to share our virtual 8th Grade Awards Assembly with you. Please click here to access the prerecorded assembly. We hope that you enjoy the many speeches, the musical performance by our 8th-grade choir, and the awards presented to students of the Wredling 8th Grade Class of 2020!

- Here is our 6th Grade Celebration video!
For our 8th Grade Parents: Earlier this week, I sent out a message about sending in a picture with the 8th grade celebration sign. Please be sure to submit all celebration sign photos by today at 4:00 pm, as the district will be uploading them to our WMS Facebook page. If you missed this deadline, they will look to upload late entries as time permits.
Best wishes to you all as you embark on the next phase of your academic journey!

SEL LESSONS FROM D303
SEL Lessons:
Thank you for engaging in the weekly Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons. Across the past five weeks, parents and students have engaged in learning around each of the CASEL core competencies connected to SEL which are:
Self-awareness: The ability to accurately recognize one’s emotions and thoughts and their influence on behavior. This includes accurately assessing one’s strengths and limitations and possessing a well-grounded sense of confidence and optimism.
Self-management: The ability to regulate one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations. This includes managing stress, controlling impulses, motivating oneself, and setting and working toward achieving personal and academic goals.
Social awareness: The ability to take the perspective of and empathize with others from diverse backgrounds and cultures, to understand social and ethical norms for behavior, and to recognize family, school, and community resources and supports.
Relationship skills: The ability to establish and maintain healthy and rewarding relationships with diverse individuals and groups. This includes communicating clearly, listening actively, cooperating, resisting inappropriate social pressure, negotiating conflict constructively, and seeking and offering help when needed.
Responsible decision-making: The ability to make constructive and respectful choices about personal behavior and social interactions based on consideration of ethical standards, safety concerns, social norms, the realistic evaluation of consequences of various actions, and the well-being of self and others.
This has been a very different school year. The collaborative relationship between home and school, established and made stronger by this health crisis, has supported students' ability to continue to come together to learn and grow. Remote learning has taken a toll on students and adults. As you enter the summer months, know D303 staff continue to be accessible to you. Do not hesitate to reach out via Let’s Talk or by connecting with your building administration. All previous SEL lessons are available through the D303 Remote Learning for Students. We are hopeful the resources shared will be a continued support to parents/guardians and children across the summer months. If you have any questions on the information provided or are seeking additional support for yourself or child, please contact Patti Palagi, Director Instructional Interventions (patti.palagi@d303.org or (331-228-6457). Additional resources to support you over the summer months are included here:

Dig Deeper! Read, Investigate and Discover with Your Library
Summer Reading is almost here!
The St. Charles Public Library District invites kids to read a little bit every day to keep up their reading skills outside of the school year. They can pick up a book in any format- print or digital, and they can read or be read to. If a kid reads 20 minutes each weekday for the ten weeks of the program, he or she will reach 1000 minutes by August 2nd!
Starting May 26th, visit our website or scpld.readsquared.com to sign up and start logging minutes online. Kids receive a virtual badge for every 100 minutes logged! Complete an online mission each week and earn additional minutes.
At 1000 minutes, kids are eligible for a book prize and an entry in our Grand Prize Drawing. There will be five gift baskets in the drawing- each focused on a different area: Reading, Science, Art, Video Games, and Legos.
For a short movie highlighting the program, visit our Youtube channel.
Additionally, we are excited to announce that the St. Charles Public Library will be offering library cards to all District 303 students! Every student who attends a District 303 school will be eligible to get their own library card. Parents will opt-in for a student card when they do online registration. Please note that only students will be able to get a library card. Parents, or other family members who do not attend school are ineligible to receive a card.
A library card will give you access to all our ebooks and eresources while our public space is closed. You can access all the information on what we have available at scpld.org/ebooks.
We are so excited to offer this invaluable resource to our students at District 303. If you have any questions, please contact Kelly Stulgate, 630-549-8971.
