Principal's Message
Hello Springwater Students and Families,
Today we wrapped up the week with an all school field trip to Mount Hood Community College. Students participated in an overview of the school and its programs, interacted with a student panel of current MHCC students, and toured the campus. We purposefully take grades 9-12 on this field trip to get everyone thinking more critically about what they want to do after high school. Whether it be the trades, community college, a 4 year university, a technical school, or the workforce, we want students to make an informed decision: which requires they explore all of their options.
6-week Progress Grades posted in ParentVue and StudentVue this week. If you haven't had a chance to sit down with your student and discuss them, I encourage you to do so. We have also sent out notifications to families of students who are not passing 1 or more classes. This is a perfect time for students to get back on track: whether it be staying after school for academic support, setting up time each week to review assignments with a parent, or carving out a consistent time each week to complete homework.
Next week, Mr. Lurie's Government classes will be heading down to the Multnomah County Courthouse to tour the facilities and see the legal system in action. The following week we have several more field trips: Ms. Weber's Journalism students will be participating in Fall Media Day at the University of Oregon on November 2nd, interested seniors will be visiting Portland Community College on November 2nd, and on Friday, November 4th Ms. Kruse's art classes will be visiting the Portland Art Museum and Mr. Lurie's US History classes will be visiting the Oregon Historical Society. We will be sending out reminders if your student is participating in any of these cool experiences!
Take care and enjoy the weekend,
Ryan Blaszak

If your son/daughter is going to be out for the day please call the office (503-261-4600) and let us know the reason why. Whenever the office is not notified of an absence, a call is made home via the automated calling system. If the student is going to be out more than three days, you can call the office or email your student's teachers with a request for homework. If your student is going to be out of school for extended period of time due to a vacation or some other event, please have him/her complete a Pre-arranged Absence Form. If your student needs to leave school early or arrive late due to appointments, please call the office or send a note to excuse their absence.
