Eastview WIN Time on Wednesday Afternoons in the Learning Commons
Starting Wednesday, November 1st, students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm – 4:15pm in the Learning Commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (“What I Need” or “What’s Important Now”), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:40pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 4:45pm.

EV Girls Cross Country Team Runs Away With a 13th Place Finish at State!
Congrats to the Eastview Girls Cross Country Team on a 13th Place finish at the MSHSL State Meet today at Les Bolstad Golf Course on the University of Minnesota campus. This wrapped up the 3rd season in a row where they have advanced to State as a team! Congrats to Seniors Morgan Brown, Grace Chambers, Lidia Dahlman, Emily Percival and Natalie Wees, Juniors Gracie Puit and Eva Zimmerman, Sophomore Hadley Knight and Ninth Grader Kienna Loberg. The Lightning are led by assistant coaches Jenny Hugstad-Vaa and Derek Schlager and head coach Jorjean Fischer.
In addition to concluding the 2023 CC Season and the CC careers of five Seniors, it also brought the end of an era as Head Coach Jorjean Fischer and Assistant Coach Jenny Hugstad-Vaa are “retiring” after 40 (yes FORTY) years coaching cross country athletes including all 27 years of the Eastview Girls Cross Country program! A huge thanks to both of them for their incredible leadership and impact on hundreds of athletes over all those years!
Attention families of Seniors planning to compete in collegiate athletics:
As of 2019, the NCAA process now allows signings for most sports on almost any day of the year after November 8th. As a result of the greatly expanded dates as well as wanting to celebrate all of our college athletic participants from Eastview together, we will once again hold one large-scale signing recognition event on the evening of Sunday, May 19th 2024 in the Main Gym. That ceremony will recognize all of our athletes who will be continuing on to compete in athletics at the collegiate level regardless of division or receipt of athletic aid along with other Athletic Department Award Winners from the Class of 2024. Individual athletes and their families and/or their Eastview team (from the sport(s) they plan to participate in collegiately) are encouraged to celebrate all collegiate signings in their own ways. Families are encouraged to communicate directly with their sport coach if they would like to reserve space at EVHS for any such events.
In order to collect information for our ceremony in May, as well as to be able to share information throughout the year with the local media, please have any athlete planning on participating in collegiate athletics fill out the brief survey at this link: https://forms.gle/ntmXCEaSVvzDAKhD8 Thanks!
